The time actually on the... - The time actually on the water was a little too long given the weather. 30 mins less would have been perfect

Great long day out to see... - Great long day out to see wonderful natural beauty. Coach, boat, another coach and then another boat but all worth it. Peaceful surroundings, seals and plenty of waterfalls and landscapes.

Majestic Doubtful Sound - We had perfect weather for our trip to Doubtful Sound. The team driving and ferrying the group to the Sound was informative and shared their knowledge about the area freely. Having a nature on board the cruise was great in spotting things you may not notice on your own. The quiet moment in a cove was magnificent. One really could soak in the majesty of the area.

A fantastic day at Doubtful Sound - Highly recommend. The entire experience was amazing. Everything was well organised. It wasn't crowded, which meant being able to move around the boat freely. And the scenery was just something that will last in my memory for a long time.

Doubtful Sound - a hidden paradise - This is a long day. Twelve hours from leaving Queenstown to arriving back. However this was worth every minute of the long journey to get there. Our driver/tour leader was Chao and he was professional, very informative, a great driver and also very funny! The 2 hours on the bus to Lake Manapouri was filled with lots of information about the area we drove through. The boat trip across the lake was smooth and the crew were cheerful and chatty. We had ordered the picnic lunch as part of our package and we picked this up before boarding at Manapouri. I would recommend this option. Then back onto a bus with Chao to cross through the forest to Doubtful Sound where we saw waterfalls and our first glimpse of Doubtful Sound from high above. We then boarded the second boat for the three hour trip through the Sound and into the Tasman Sea. The scenery is awe inspiring and the quietness adds to the remote experience. We saw seals basking on rocks at the mouth of the Tasman Sea and an Albatross circling past the boat. It’s hard to describe the vastness and seclusion of the Sound but it is beautiful. On the journey back everyone was excited by what they had experienced but also tired from the long day. I am so glad we chose this particular trip and grateful we had the chance to see this amazing hidden place.

Long day, beautiful views, somewhat disappointing - We went by bus from Queenstown to Manapouri. Our driver was Luke and he drove very safely and correctly. He told interesting stories about the region along the way. In Manoupouri we took the ferry to the Wilsonpass together with about 150 people. In Manapouri we drove with 3 full buses quietly over the Wilsonpass. Along the way was another photo opportunity of the Doubtfull Sound. At Deep Cove we all boarded a spacious catamaran. There were plenty of photo opportunities. We saw, among other things, seals on a large rock and beautiful vistas Unfortunately for us the misty atmosphere was not present. In my opinion, this was because there were no waterfalls due to the past dry weeks and we found about 150 men on the catamaran too many. There was plenty of room on the Catamaran. You can also easily order food and drinks. After the cruise we went back the same way. It's been a long day. We left at 7:40 am and were back about 20:00.

Fiordland tour - The physical geography of the Fiordland is picturesque, and this guided tour provides one of the few ways that you can see this part of New Zealand. The Manapouri Ferry and Doubtful Sound Catamaran have great viewing from the top deck, side decks or even from the inside when it was too rainy and windy for comfort outside. Video monitors inside show a real time map of the route, supplemented by the tour guide/naturalist on board who talks about the sites and regions, projecting over loudspeakers that are clear and easy to hear. On Doubtful Sound you travel all through the areas and up to the edge of the Tasmanian Sea. Here the water was rougher, but the vastness of the sea impactful. My favorite part was on the way back when we went into Crooked Arm – the water (and weather) was calmer and the area more serene. The greenery of the mountains and their waterfalls were beautiful. I booked the trip, although expensive, after reading other Viator reviews. Reviewers noted that yes, the trip is long but that on the bus ride the driver talks about the local landscapes and shares information about the region. Our driver did not do this, which was disappointing. The bus rides were only transportation to get to/from the tour, but not part of it. On the water ways the guides were engaging, and I learned about the region. Bus: Queenstown – Manapouri Ferry ~2 hours Boat: Manapouri Ferry – West Arm Visitor Centre ~50 min Bus: West Arm Visitor Centre – Doubtful Sound Catamaran ~40 min Boat: Doubtful Sound round-trip tour ~3 hrs Reverse back to return to Queenstown by ~8pm
