• Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - Mtskheta, one of Georgia’s oldest cities, was founded by ancient Meschian tribes in the 5th century. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, it was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Mtskheta remained the coronation and burial site for most Georgian kings until the 19th century. The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the second-largest church in Georgia after the Holy Trinity Cathedral, is known as the burial site of Christ’s mantle and is a principal Georgian Orthodox church. Enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time in Mtskheta for shopping, wine tasting, boat trips, etc.
