- Jinvali Water Reservoir - The driver will greet guests in the morning at their hotel or selected pickup location. The journey will begin early from Tbilisi, heading towards Kazbegi along the picturesque route through the Great Caucasus Mountains.
The first stop is at Zhinvali Reservoir, a breathtaking man-made lake on the Aragvi River, encircled by mountains. It’s an ideal location for capturing stunning landscape photos and appreciating the serene natural beauty of Georgia.
- Ananuri Fortress Complex - Just 15 minutes from Zhinvali Reservoir, the tour arrives at Ananuri Castle, a top tourist destination in Georgia. This historic fortress features two churches and a 16th-century defensive tower within its walls.
The fortress complex is beautifully positioned on the banks of Zhinvali Reservoir, with its turquoise waters providing a truly remarkable backdrop. Ananuri was once the seat of the eristavis (dukes) of Aragvi.
Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and water, explore the charming fortress, and delve into the rich history surrounding this iconic site.
- Russian Georgian Friendship Monument - The next stop is the Gudauri Friendship Monument, also known as the Gudauri Panorama or the Treaty of Georgievsk Monument. Constructed by the Soviet government to commemorate 200 years since the signing of the Treaty of Georgievsk in 1783, this monument is a striking fusion of history and art.
The panorama is adorned with Soviet-style mosaics depicting Georgian and Russian heroes, farmers, fairy tales, and communist symbols. While the artwork is vivid and colorful, the monument’s true beauty lies in its stunning location.
- Gergeti Trinity Church - The final stop is Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), near Georgia’s northern border with Russia. The town’s main attraction is Kazbegi Peak, also known as Mkinvartsveri, which has long captivated mountain enthusiasts. From its summit at 5,054 meters, the panoramic views are truly unforgettable.
In Kazbegi, the tour will visit the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, located at the base of Kazbegi Glacier. Its secluded position atop a steep mountain, surrounded by the vast Caucasus landscape, has made it one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks and a symbol of the country’s rich heritage.
Winter Option (November to May): During this time, the road from Kazbegi center to Gergeti Church is always snow-covered, so only a local off-road vehicle can reach the church. This optional ride costs $25 per car (total, not per person).
