Next, we visit a salty lake, offering a fantastic opportunity to capture beautiful photos. The lake is en route to David Gareji Lavra, and the scenery is perfect for taking memorable pictures. We will spend a total of 30 minutes at the shop and the lake.
- Udabno - After visiting the lake, the journey continues through Udabno Village, which translates to “desert.” This area is Georgia’s only semi-desert, showcasing the incredible diversity of Georgian nature.
- David Gareji Monastery - The tour proceeds with a walk towards the renowned Rainbow Mountains. The landscape’s most striking feature is the mineral-rich sedimentary rock, appearing as if painted with vibrant stripes. Hiking through the Rainbow Mountains is possible, and visitors are captivated by their colors. We will explore the Rainbow Mountains, take numerous stunning photos, and prepare for the historical tour of David Gareji Lavra. The David Gareji Monastery Complex is one of the country’s most spiritual sites. You will hear stories about the monastery, engage in some hiking, and see a Georgian soldier at the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. It is believed that St. David chose this remote location for his Disciples to live a holy life, separate from society.
- Traveler’s Meeting Point - After visiting David Gareji Lavra, the tour concludes with a return to Tbilisi, finishing at 5 pm.

Wonderful experience - The tour guide, Dimitri, was very professional and speaks excellent English. The trip is short but absolutely worth it. We traveled by minivan through barren hills near the Azerbaijan border.
We visited a monastery surrounded by defensive walls, rich in history. Dimitri explained everything clearly and competently.
For lunch, I recommend bringing snacks. After that, Dimitri guided us on a hike in the Rainbow Mountains—breathtaking scenery.
Do not underestimate the wind: it can be very strong. In winter it is extremely cold.
Avoid this tour when it rains.

This was our final trip... - This was our final trip during our visit to Georgia, and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour to end it with. It encapsulates some of the elements that make Georgia such a wonderful country to visit — the stunning landscapes and the fascinating history of religion and its development.
The David Gareja complex is truly intriguing, especially once you understand the context and history of the site, which our guide explained very well.
The Rainbow Mountains provide the perfect backdrop for memorable photos — ones you'll look back on for years to come. One thing we would recommend is wearing good footwear, as the terrain can be quite slippery if it has rained beforehand. Our tour guide gave us plenty of time to take photos and even suggested the best angles, which was very helpful.
On the way back, our guide also played some traditional polyphonic music, which was a lovely touch and helped us feel even more immersed in Georgian culture.
We would definitely recommend this trip.

David Gareja Complex - Great trip. Enjoyed learning the history of the place and seeing the caves as well. It is such a peaceful place to be in the atmosphere around the place is very calm and still. Mariam was a great guide and it was lovely to chat with her.

Best Travel agency in Tbilisi. - Best 5 star local travel agency. Will not cancel yr tour like other operators. I travelled from Australia and had other operators cancel my tours. I rebooked 3 tours with Gamarjoba same day Easy to find meeting near station Avlabari. Extremely helpful pleasant staff in Mary. Best guide Berdia. Thankyou for the best day.

Must see and experience! - It was a great time. No one was there so we go to enjoy the whole place by ourselves. Something you must see for your own eyes! Dima was our guide and did a phenomenal job. Highly recommend!

Amazing landscapes and beautiful monastery - We were really impressed with the David Gereja monastery and the beautiful surrounding rainbow mountains! Dima was an excellent and fun guide and we learnt lots about Georgian history and culture, as well as the places we visited. It’s an easy half day tour from Tbilisi with a bit of hiking (which we really enjoyed) - so we highly recommend it as a city escape!

Wonderful experience in the rainbow mountains - Dima the guide and Soso the driver brought us on a wonderful tour to the rainbow mountains and David Gareja Monastery. It was a beautiful and informative tour with some great hiking. I would highly reccomend it as a day trip for anyone visiting Tbilisi.

One of the best tours I’ve had so far! - The experience was amazing! One of the best tour I’ve ever done so far! :)
The group was small, so I felt like we had the chance to know more about each other. Our guide, Misho, was just fantastic, so funny as well! His knowledge about the history of Georgia is just perfect.
I really recommend this tour, and in general this tours agency, as this was my second experience with them! ;)
