Built in the 14th century, it is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. During times of danger, relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, were safeguarded here. Although religious services were banned during the Soviet era, the church remained a popular tourist spot. It is now an active Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church establishment, offering epic panoramic views of the valley. The church’s remote location in the steep mountains makes it a top tourist attraction in Georgia, with stunning views of Mount Kazbegi, which stands at 5047 meters.

The tour takes you through several stunning locations along the route. It can confidently be said that this is the highlight of any trip to Georgia. Enjoy delightful moments with friendly people, sharing laughter and dancing along the way. The groups that gather here are very international, offering the chance to meet many amazing individuals. (It’s an excellent choice for solo travelers!). Keep in mind, it’s a long journey, but rest assured, our guides always create a festive atmosphere with captivating stories about Georgia. This ride can be challenging even for our skilled and experienced drivers during winter. We have some advice for winter travel: firstly, prepare for freezing temperatures by bringing warm clothing, and ensure you get a good night’s sleep beforehand. Occasionally, roads may be blocked, preventing travel beyond Gudauri, but in such cases, there is more time to enjoy the Gudauri ski resort, where you can try various activities like paragliding, ATV biking, horse riding, and more.
