- Taqah Castle - Taqa Castle is a prominent landmark in Dhofar, constructed in the 19th century. Its walls are made from ‘Taqa Stone’, a local limestone rich in fossilized shells and corals. Visitors can explore the well, roofless jail, formal sitting area (majlis), bedrooms, kitchen, and stores, which display traditional weaponry, jewelry, household items, and vibrant traditional clothing.

This 6 to 8-hour Dhofar mountain safari tour offers a captivating journey to the eastern side of Salalah, where some of the Middle East’s most stunning landscapes await.
Taqa Castle, a prominent landmark in Dhofar built in the 19th century, is included in the tour. The tour also covers Taqa Beach and Taqa city, along with Koofan House and Burj Al Askar.
The tour’s main highlight is Wadi Darbat, the most renowned valley in the Dhofar Region. Here, visitors can witness the seasonal waterfall and enjoy boating (kayaking, paddle boat, or motorboat) while admiring the Jabal Qara mountain range.
The tour includes a visit to the Tawi Attair (bird well) sinkhole.
Jabal Samhan, the highest point in Dhofar at over 4,000 feet, offers breathtaking views, and with some luck, visitors may see clouds passing below.
