Nyerere National Park – Boat Trip to Rufiji River

Nyerere National Park - Following breakfast, and an introduction from Luitours staff, guests will be picked up from their hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. The journey to Nyerere National Park is approximately 218.6 km, taking around 4 hours by car. Upon arrival at the lodge, lunch will be served (or light refreshments if arriving later). In the afternoon, guests will embark on a boat safari on the Rufiji River.

Nyerere Game Drive

Nyerere National Park - After a morning breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Expect to see a variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and the rare African hunting dog. Birdwatching opportunities abound, and the scenery is stunning, featuring wetlands, dry grasslands, light acacia forests, and elevated areas with expansive mountain views. A packed lunch will be provided, and there will be time to relax. The guide will choose a shaded spot near water to observe animals drinking. In the evening, return to the lodge for a delightful sunset dinner and overnight stay.

Nyerere Game Drive

Nyerere National Park - Spend the entire day on a game drive in Nyerere National Park. The landscape ranges from rolling savannah woodlands to grassland plains and rocky outcrops, intersected by the Rufiji River and its tributaries.

Mikumi Game Drive

Mikumi National Park - After breakfast, with packed lunches, drive to Mikumi National Park, a 6-hour journey. Arrive in the late afternoon or evening, with a game drive en route. Expect to see zebras, impalas, giraffes, and elephants.

Mikumi Game Drive

Mikumi National Park - Following breakfast at the lodge, with packed lunches, embark on a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Udzungwa Mountains National Park

Udzungwa Mountains National Park - After breakfast, enjoy a hike through the stunning forests and landscapes of Udzungwa with a professional guide. Packed lunches will be provided. Learn about various trees used in traditional healing and observe birdlife. Reach the top for a breathtaking view of the ‘Sanje Waterfalls.’ From the waterfall’s summit, enjoy a panoramic view of the vast Kilombero Sugarcane Valley, one of Tanzania’s largest sugarcane plantations. Return in the late evening for a hot dinner and overnight stay.

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park - After an early breakfast at Camp Bastian, travel by Jeep directly to Ruaha National Park, approximately 274 km away, with lunch boxes provided. The route passes through scenic countryside, valleys, and mountains. Upon arrival, visit the museum in Iringa town, which houses the head of the local chief Mkwawa, who resisted the Germans. Then, proceed to Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.

Ruaha Game Drive + Night Game Drive

Ruaha National Park - After breakfast, with packed lunches, enjoy extensive game drives in Ruaha National Park to explore its diverse topography and wildlife. Ruaha is Tanzania’s second-largest elephant sanctuary. The Great Ruaha River, running along the park’s eastern border, features dramatic gorges and is home to numerous hippos and crocodiles. Unique animals include both greater and lesser kudus, as well as roan and sable antelopes. In the evening, continue with a night game drive until 11 PM, then return to the lodge for an overnight stay. The park is also rich in birdlife, with over 370 species recorded.

Ruaha Walking Safari

Ruaha National Park - After breakfast, depart the lodge for another half-day of game drives and walking safaris in Ruaha National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch at midday and visit sites missed on the previous day. Later, begin the drive back to Mikumi for dinner and an overnight stay.

Mikumi to Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam - After breakfast at the hotel, begin the drive to Dar es Salaam. Lunch will be taken in Morogoro before continuing the journey.
