Serengeti National Park, the largest in Tanzania, derives its name from the Maasai word “siringet,” meaning “the place where the land runs on forever.” The park spans 14,750 square kilometers (5,700 sq. mi) of grassland plains, savannas, riverine forests, and woodlands.
