Arusha to Lake Ndutu (Southern Serengeti).
Ndutu Lake - Begin your adventure with an early breakfast in Arusha. Meet your expert safari guide and set off in a private 4x4 safari vehicle. The journey takes you northwest, leaving the city behind as you climb into the lush, green highlands. You’ll pass through lively local towns and coffee plantations, enjoying scenic views along the way. Enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you might catch your first sight of wildlife. Instead of descending into the crater today, continue across the expansive, open plains that define the Serengeti ecosystem. Your destination is the Lake Ndutu area, situated in the Serengeti’s Southern Plains. After a picnic lunch en route, embark on your first game drive in this abundant region, arriving at Nyikani Camp in the late afternoon. Check into this luxurious tented camp that provides an authentic safari experience without compromising on comfort. The tents are spacious and well-equipped with en-suite bathrooms.
Full Day Exploring the Southern Serengeti (Ndutu).
Ndutu Lake - Dedicate today entirely to exploring the Ndutu region. Enjoy a full day of game drives with a packed lunch, maximizing your time in the wilderness. The Lake Ndutu area is a vital part of the Serengeti ecosystem, renowned for the Great Migration. If visiting between December and April, there’s a high chance of witnessing the calving season, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeest give birth, attracting numerous predators. Even outside this season, the area is famous for its resident cheetah populations and large prides of lions. Your guide will lead you to the best spots for wildlife viewing, from the acacia woodlands to the open, short-grass plains and the lake shores themselves, where you might see flamingos and other waterbirds.
Lake Ndutu to Central Serengeti.
Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, set off on a game drive as you leave Ndutu and travel further north into the heart of the Serengeti National Park. The landscape gradually shifts from open plains to the classic Serengeti savannah, dotted with kopjes (ancient granite rock formations). Continue your game drive en route to your next camp, stopping for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. The Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley) is the park’s richest wildlife area, known for its high density of leopards and lions, who often use the kopjes as lookout points. In the evening, arrive at Into Wild Africa Camp, another stunning tented camp that immerses you in the wild. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, share stories of the day’s sightings, and have dinner under a blanket of stars.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater.
Ngorongoro Crater - Savor one last early morning game drive in the Serengeti, perhaps catching a final glimpse of a predator on the hunt. Afterwards, return to camp for a hearty breakfast before starting your journey back towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
· Afternoon: Drive up the crater’s rim and then descend 600 meters (almost 2,000 feet) down into the Ngorongoro Crater itself. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a natural amphitheater teeming with wildlife. Enjoy game viewing on the crater floor, which includes a hippo-filled lake, open grasslands, and acacia woodlands. Relish a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater rim and drive a short distance to the nearby town of Karatu. Check into Tloma Lodge, a beautiful and peaceful coffee lodge set on a working coffee plantation. It offers a different kind of beauty, with lush gardens and stunning views, providing a luxurious and relaxing end to your day.
Tarangire National Park to Arusha.
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast at the lodge, bid farewell to Karatu and drive to Tarangire National Park. The landscape changes dramatically as you enter Tarangire, characterized by ancient baobab trees dotting the savannah. Embark on a final game drive through Tarangire. The park is famous for its massive herds of elephants, often numbering in the hundreds, that gather around the Tarangire River. You’ll also see large families of baboons, impressive baobab trees, and a variety of bird species, including the iconic Kori bustard and numerous birds of prey. Enjoy a final picnic lunch inside the park before beginning your journey back to Arusha. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport - JRO or Arusha Airport - ARK) in the late afternoon, filled with unforgettable memories.
