Kilimanjaro National Park - Elevation: 2370m/7800ft to 2895m/9500ft
Starting from Moshi, a 45-minute drive will take you through charming mountainside villages to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Here, permits will be processed while observing the lively preparations of various crews for the journey ahead. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery and winding trails as your guide shares insights about the local flora, fauna, and wildlife. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery, so gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended.

Kilimanjaro National Park - Elevation: 3505m/11,500ft to 4200m/13,800ft
The Shira Plateau is explored for a full day. It’s a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau leading to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. The journey continues to Moir Hut, a less frequented site at the base of Lent Hills. Various walks are available on Lent Hills, providing an excellent acclimatization opportunity. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on earth.

Mount Kilimanjaro - Elevation: 4200m/13,800ft to 4000m/13,000ft
Although the day ends at a similar elevation as it began, it is crucial for acclimatization. From Shira Plateau, the path continues east up a ridge, passing the junction towards Kibo peak, then southeast towards the Lava Tower, known as the “Shark’s Tooth” (elev. 4650m/15,250ft). Kilimanjaro National Park - Elevation: 4700m/15,350ft to 5895m/19,340ft Descent to 3090m/10,150ft
Excitement builds as the morning begins with an early start between midnight and 2 a.m. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. The path continues to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, focusing on the incredible sense of accomplishment ahead. With a switchback motion in a northwesterly direction, the ascent continues through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. A magnificent sunrise rewards a short rest here. Faster hikers may witness the sunrise from the summit. The remaining 1-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak is likely to encounter snow all the way. Congratulations, step by step, Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa, is reached! After photos, celebrations, and perhaps a few tears of joy, take a moment to enjoy this incredible achievement. The steep descent to Mweka Camp begins, with a stop at Barafu for lunch and a brief rest. Gaiters and trekking poles are strongly recommended for the loose gravel and volcanic ash terrain. A well-deserved rest awaits to enjoy the last evening on the mountain. Overnight at Mweka Camp.

The Lemosho route is best experienced over 8 days. In this schedule, the climb from Barranco to Barafu is split across two days, providing a brief period of rest right before the attempt to reach the summit. This is crucial since the ascent to the peak begins at midnight, causing climbers to be weary due to lack of sleep on the most challenging day of the climb. A shorter day prior to this provides a chance for climbers to recuperate.
