The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach Tarangire National Park for a game drive. This park is renowned for its large elephant herds; groups of up to 300 elephants dig in the dry riverbed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland gather around the dwindling lagoons. It boasts the highest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem, offering a feast for predators, and is the only place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope like the elegant fringe-eared oryx and the unique long-necked gerenuk are frequently seen. During the rainy season, seasonal visitors disperse over a 20,000 sq. km (12,500 sq. miles) area until the green plains are depleted and the river beckons them back. However, Tarangire’s elephant herds are easily spotted, rain or shine. The swamps, which remain green throughout the year, are home to 550 bird species, the highest number of breeding species in a single habitat worldwide. In the late afternoon, return to Arusha.

Fantastic - The whole experience was excellent, the driver/guide very friendly and patient. He would stop and wait for us to take photos at any point and as long as we wanted.
He answered all our questions.
The park is fantastic, an experience one should not miss.
