Arusha Region - The safari adventure begins upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). A representative from the safari company will warmly welcome you, assist with your luggage, and ensure a peaceful transfer to your lodge. This day is dedicated to relaxation, recovery from the journey, and acclimatization to the Tanzanian climate.
Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire National Park - Following an early breakfast, meet the professional safari guide and set off for Tarangire National Park. Renowned for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, Tarangire offers a breathtaking introduction to the African wilderness. The Tarangire River attracts abundant wildlife, especially during the dry season. Expect to encounter large elephant families, lions, leopards often seen in trees, giraffes, buffalo, and a vibrant array of bird species.
Tarangire to Lake Natron
Lake Natron - Today, venture off the beaten path, heading northeast towards the remote and dramatic landscape of Lake Natron. The journey itself is an adventure, traversing vast Maasai pastoral lands. The scenery transforms into a stark, beautiful wilderness dominated by the Rift Valley escarpment and the perfect cone of the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, known as the “Mountain of God” in Maasai.
Full Day around Lake Natron.
Lake Natron - Spend a full day exploring the surreal wonders of Lake Natron. This alkaline lake is the primary breeding ground for 2.5 million Lesser Flamingos. A guided walk along the shore (binoculars recommended) reveals vast, shimmering pink flocks. The highlight is a trek up the Engare Sero River to a series of stunning waterfalls and deep, fresh-water pools, perfect for a refreshing swim—an oasis in the desert. There is also an opportunity to visit a local Maasai boma (homestead) to learn about their culture and traditions.
Lake Natron to Northern Serengeti (Mara River).
Mara River - After an early breakfast, embark on the long but incredibly scenic journey into the Northern Serengeti, also known as the Serengeti Mara Region. Enter the park through the remote Klein’s Gate. The landscape here features rolling hills, acacia woodlands, and the iconic Mara River, famous for the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration (typically July-October).
Full Day in Mara River.
Mara River - This entire day is dedicated to the drama of the Northern Serengeti. The guide will expertly patrol the Mara Riverbanks, searching for massive herds of wildebeest and zebra gathering with nervous energy, poised to cross. Witnessing a river crossing—a chaotic, thrilling, and awe-inspiring spectacle of nature where thousands of animals brave crocodile-infested waters—is an unparalleled wildlife experience. Even outside migration season, the area is rich with resident game, including elephants, topi, kongoni, and large predators.
Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti (Seronera).
Serengeti National Park - Enjoy a final morning game drive in the north before journeying south towards the heart of the Serengeti, the Central Seronera region. This transfer is a full game drive, allowing appreciation of the park’s vastness and changing ecosystems. The Central Serengeti is renowned for its year-round excellent game viewing due to its permanent water sources. It’s a prime area for spotting leopards in the riparian forests, cheetahs on the plains, and large prides of lions.
Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After a morning game drive in the Serengeti, begin the journey east, exiting the park and ascending into the lush, green highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Drive through the cooler, agricultural town of Karatu, known for its coffee and wheat farms. This is a great opportunity to see a different side of Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha.
Ngorongoro Crater - The final safari day begins with an early descent down the 600-meter wall into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and natural wonder. The crater’s floor is a self-contained ecosystem teeming with an incredible density of animals. It is one of the best places in the world to see the endangered black rhinoceros, as well as large prides of lions, hyenas, elephants, and thousands of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy a memorable picnic lunch by the hippo pool before ascending the crater rim. Afterwards, begin the drive back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure flight, filled with unforgettable memories.
