Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, head directly to Tarangire Park for a game drive. Initially, there will be a stop at the last-minute supermarket in Arusha Town for any final purchases before proceeding to Tarangire. The journey follows The Great Northern Highway, traversing the Masai steppe and numerous villages en route to Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is renowned for its massive Baobab trees and large elephant population. Visitors can expect to see herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, hippos, baboons, various antelopes, and the majestic African elephant. Bird enthusiasts will find paradise here, with over 400 bird species recorded, including the rare Ash Starling, Great Kudu, and fringed Eared Oryx.
Predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and the elusive leopard also inhabit this park. Tarangire Park is central to the annual migratory cycle within the Tarangire Lake Manyara ecosystem, which includes up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and about 30,000 zebra. In the late afternoon, drive to Fig Lodge at the base of the Great East African Rift Valley to enjoy the sunset, dinner, and overnight stay.
Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast at the campsite, depart for Serengeti Park. The drive passes through the picturesque high-lying farmland of Karatu and across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a stop at the Ngorongoro gate for check-in before proceeding to the Crater viewpoint for some stunning photos of the crater floor from the rim. Continue driving around the crater rim, across the Malanja depression, and into the world-renowned Serengeti National Park with its endless rolling plains. While checking in at Naabi Hills gate, enjoy a packed lunch here or at the kopjes (rocky outcroppings) before heading to the central Serengeti area known as the Seronera area.
Seronera is one of the park’s richest animal habitats, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a vital water source and attracts a large number of wildlife, representing most of the Serengeti’s species. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in search of big cats and the wildebeest migration (depending on the travel time). In the late afternoon, drive to Seronera Public Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - As early as 06:30, with a packed breakfast and lunch box, embark on an early morning game drive in the vast Serengeti plains, with the possibility of spotting cat families on the road as they avoid the morning mist. Other nocturnal predators returning from their night hunts or a group of lionesses organizing a morning ambush or feeding along the road may also be seen. Afterward, enjoy breakfast in the bush.
The Serengeti National Park is the stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration (depending on the travel time). After the bush breakfast, follow the migration herds and spend ample time observing animal behaviors such as feeding, fighting, and even hunting. Packed lunch can be enjoyed at a picnic site or somewhere in the bush. This is a full-day game drive in the Serengeti, returning to the campsite before or during sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
All meals included – Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite Central Serengeti
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast, embark on an early game drive to observe numerous animals until the afternoon, then head to camp for lunch and packing. Continue the game drive while exiting the Serengeti, heading to Simba Campsite (a 2-hour drive) near the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Ngorongoro to Manyara
Ngorongoro Crater - As early as 06:30, after breakfast at the campsite, descend over 600 meters into the crater floor for game viewing. The Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder of the world, was formed around 3 million years ago due to internal forces beneath the Earth’s crust. Supported by a year-round water supply and ample fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area sustains a large number of animal species, including herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, topi, warthog, hippo, and the giant African elephant.
On this 6-day Tanzania camping safari tour, another major attraction of this unique natural animal sanctuary is the dense population of predators, including lions, jackals, hyenas, and the elusive leopard, which sometimes requires binoculars to spot. The tour will take you to Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, frequently visited by hippos, flamingos, and other aquatic birds. In the late afternoon, drive out and return to Manyara/Fig Lodge.
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha Town
Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, take a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park and begin a game drive after completing all park formalities. Lake Manyara is dramatically located and comprises overlapping habitats, including underground water forests, acacia woodlands, swamps, baobab-strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, and the large area occupied by the lake.
Due to these diverse habitats, the park supports a large number of animal species and incredible birdlife. Lake Manyara boasts the largest concentration of baboons found anywhere in the world, and its most notable features are the large flocks of flamingos and the Lake Manyara tree-climbing lions. Other animals to be seen include herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog, and many antelopes. In the late afternoon, drive back to Arusha Town, marking the end of the 6-day safari, with an overnight stay or drop-off at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for a late flight home.
