Arusha to Tarangire

Tarangire National Park - Depart from Arusha after breakfast for the approximately two-hour journey to Tarangire National Park. Along the route, pass lively Masai villages and the expansive, open plains that are iconic of Africa.

Upon entering Tarangire, embark on a game drive across a vast landscape of endless golden savannah surrounding the Tarangire River. This river flows year-round, providing a crucial water source for the region’s wildlife during the dry season. Acacia and Baobab trees line the river, frequently visited by the park’s large elephant population and other herbivores like zebras and antelopes.

Then, head to camp for lunch and packing, continuing a game drive as you exit the Serengeti and travel to Simba campsite (a two-hour drive) near the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, descend into the crater for a full-day game drive.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated African wildlife areas globally, home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos.

With a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, the crater supports a wide variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.
