Arusha to Tarangire
Tarangire National Park - Depart from Arusha after breakfast for the approximately two-hour journey to Tarangire National Park. Along the route, pass lively Masai villages and the expansive, open plains that are iconic of Africa.
Upon entering Tarangire, embark on a game drive across a vast landscape of endless golden savannah surrounding the Tarangire River. This river flows year-round, providing a crucial water source for the region’s wildlife during the dry season. Acacia and Baobab trees line the river, frequently visited by the park’s large elephant population and other herbivores like zebras and antelopes.
Enjoy a picnic lunch with a view of the river, but stay alert as the local monkeys may attempt to snatch your meal!
While driving through the park, there are opportunities to see lions, leopards, cape buffalo, and a wide variety of antelopes. With some luck, you might even spot endangered species such as the Greater Kudu or the Fringe-Eared Oryx.
Tarangire to Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - Start the day with an early breakfast, as a day full of exploration and adventure awaits!
Begin the journey with a scenic drive towards the Serengeti. Along the way, pass through the misty rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you might catch sight of cape buffalo, baboons, or even elephants and leopards in the dense foliage.
After a delightful lunch at the Serengeti National Park picnic area, it’s time to explore the Serengeti itself. Experience Africa’s iconic savannah landscape and marvel at the vast number of animals roaming these grassy plains.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, tailored to the standard and type of accommodation chosen from our options.
Serengeti full day
Serengeti National Park - Rise before dawn to participate in a sunrise game drive. As the sun illuminates the savannah, it’s the perfect time to observe predators in action, taking advantage of the low light and cooler temperatures to hunt for an early meal. It’s an ideal moment to witness lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action, as well as the early morning movements of wildebeest, zebra, and other herbivores.
Alternatively, consider a sunrise hot air balloon safari with a champagne breakfast. Consult your safari expert about adding this once-in-a-lifetime experience to your adventure.
After an unforgettable morning, return to your lodge for a late breakfast and freshen up before setting out again with a picnic lunch. Your driver will choose the best route based on the season and the animals you’d like to see, ensuring your day is tailored to maximize your chances of witnessing the Serengeti’s diverse wildlife.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast, embark on a morning game drive, observing numerous animals until the afternoon. Then, head to camp for lunch and packing, continuing a game drive as you exit the Serengeti and travel to Simba campsite (a two-hour drive) near the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, descend into the crater for a full-day game drive.
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated African wildlife areas globally, home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos.
With a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, the crater supports a wide variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its large population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor.
In the late afternoon, drive back to Arusha.
