Moshi to Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - The journey begins from Moshi to Tarangire National Park. This park is renowned for its large elephant herds; groups of up to 300 elephants dig into the dry riverbed for hidden streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland gather around the dwindling lagoons. It boasts the highest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem, offering a feast for predators. It is the only place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope like the elegant fringe-eared oryx and the unique long-necked gerenuk are frequently seen. During the rainy season, these seasonal visitors disperse over a 20,000 sq. km (12,500 sq. miles) area until the green plains are depleted and the river beckons them back. Enjoy an incredible game drive in Tarangire, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Karatu campsite.
Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - Early in the morning, an experienced driver will pick up the group after breakfast and drive to Ngorongoro Crater, approximately a 30-minute drive from the camp. Upon arrival, check in at Loduare gate and proceed towards the Crater. Descend to the crater floor to witness the astonishing variety and abundance of animals and birdlife. Whether seated or standing in the pop-up safari vehicles, the viewing opportunities are endless, with countless choices of where to look and what to observe. The thrill of spotting any of the Big 5 or receiving a radio call about a lion perched on a nearby rocky outcrop or a black rhino sighting is exhilarating, prompting a quick drive to catch a glimpse before the moment passes. The excitement continues with each new sighting, perhaps a lioness and her cubs right next to the vehicle. The thrill of the chase is indescribable. Later in the afternoon, return to Karatu for dinner and accommodation at Haven Nature.
The following day, after lunch, shopping, and an optional Maasai tour at Mto wa Mbu, the guide will drive the group back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Arrival at the airport is scheduled for 4:30 pm, with check-in at 6:00 pm for a flight home around 8:30 pm.
