• Parc Perdicaris - Also known as the Rmilat Forest, the Perdicaris Park spans 70 hectares in Tangier’s Rmilat neighborhood. Positioned on the northern slopes of Jebel Kebir hill, it overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar, nestled between the Cape Spartel reserve to the west and the Jebel Kebir Royal Palace to the east. Named after Ion Hanford Perdicaris, a Greek-American who established it in the 1870s and was famously kidnapped there in 1904, the park is now a favored spot for picnics, exercise, and enjoying panoramic sea views from its scenic hiking trails.

Established on May 17, 1821, it reflects the longstanding friendly relations between the U.S. and Morocco, with Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah recognizing U.S. independence on December 20, 1777, making Morocco the first nation to do so.
