- Grand Socco - The Grand Socco, also referred to as Place du 9 Avril 1947, is a historic circular roundabout that links Tangier’s historical and modern districts. Surrounding the Grand Socco are a mosque, several shops, multiple banks, a handful of quaint restaurants with covered outdoor seating, numerous cafés, the Cinema Rif, an Amends office, and a pharmacy. One side features the archway entrance to Mendoubia Gardens, while another arch leads to Rue de la Kasbah, also known as Rue d’Italie. The Grand Socco now boasts a large marble fountain at its center, surrounded by tall palm trees and small flower gardens, along with a dozen benches for visitors to sit and unwind.
- Tangier American Legation Museum - The Tangier American Legation, also known as the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies (TALIMS), is located in Tangier’s medina. It was the first American public property outside the United States and the first United States National Historic Landmark in a foreign country. On May 17, 1821, Sultan Mohammed bin Abdallah issued a proclamation recognizing the United States’ independence from Great Britain, making his country the first to do so. The Sultan gifted the building to the US government to serve as a diplomatic station, which it did for the next 140 years. It is now a museum and cultural center focused on researching Morocco and Moroccan-American relations, housing several paintings by Marguerite McBey and other artists. In 2010, TALIM established the Paul Bowles Wing, three rooms dedicated to the expatriate writer and composer Paul Bowles.
- Petit Socco - Petit Socco, also known as the Souq Dakhli, is a square and its surrounding streets in Tangier’s medina district. It is a must-visit for any traveler wishing to experience the city and learn about its traditions. This area is rich in history and folklore. Poets and artists frequent Place Petit Socco in search of inspiration. With its timeless charm, Petit Socco is a must-see when visiting Morocco. The passage of time is evident in the architecture of hotels, restaurants, and cafés.
- Tomb of Ibn Battouta - This modest monument is believed to be the final resting place of Ibn Battuta, who was born in Tangier in 1304 and became the greatest traveler of his time, surpassing Marco Polo. The tomb remains closed, and there is little to see at the site.
