• Parque Nacional Rincón de la Vieja - National Park Hike

Join a bilingual naturalist guide for a 3.5-km (2-mile) walk along the Las Pailas circular trail through the tropical forest. Experience breathtaking views of the volcano, stunning nature, volcanic activity, and diverse wildlife. The park hosts over 300 bird species and various animals, including armadillos, iguanas, coatis, white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, toucans, turkeys, and more. Pause to observe volcanic phenomena such as bubbling mud pots, fumaroles, and a mini crater. The Las Pailas sector vividly displays the might of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano, the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Steam and sulfur emanate from natural fumaroles in the yellow and rusty soil. Marvel at clay pails in shades of brown with boiling volcanic water, and fine gray volcanic mud bubbling and exploding in large pails. This volcano is truly unique in Costa Rica.

• Oropendola Waterfall - After the hike, take a brief walk off the beaten path to the Oropendola Waterfall just outside the park, where you can dive in and swim in the blue lagoon.
• Rio Negro Hot Springs - Hot Springs & Volcanic Mud Bath
  After lunch, you will be driven to the Hot Springs. Nestled in a tropical dry forest, the Río Negro (Black River) Hot Springs offer ten pools with thermal waters naturally heated by the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. The soothing mineral waters are crystal clear and all-natural. Relax and enjoy the healing waters. You can also indulge in a volcanic mud “bath,” applying volcanic clay mud to your body!
