Las Baulas National Marine Park - The meeting point is at Pangas Beach Club in Tamarindo, which offers parking, as well as bathroom and shower facilities.
Before embarking on a 35-minute kayak journey through vibrant mangroves, the operator will provide a briefing on proper safety and paddling techniques.
Upon reaching the core of the Park, the group will leave the kayaks onshore to explore various trails, aiming to observe as much wildlife as possible, including howler monkeys, exotic birds, parrots, herons, cranes, iguanas, squirrels, and more. Participants will also encounter exotic plants such as dragonfruit cactus, wild hibiscus, mushrooms, and large trees like the garden of the forest and the national guanacaste tree.
The tour includes a visit to an archaeological site, where participants can climb to the top of a structure built by ancient indigenous people using rocks from the vicinity. From here, a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the tree canopy can be enjoyed, offering a unique perspective to observe wildlife before returning to the kayaks for a refreshing drink and paddling back to Tamarindo.
Throughout the adventure, the operator will guide participants, explaining the behaviors of animals and the characteristics of plant life encountered. Due to daily tidal changes, it is crucial to schedule the tour 60 – 90 minutes before high tide.
