During World War II, Filipino guerillas set it ablaze to prevent its use as a military office by the invading Japanese forces.

Balay Negrense Museum - Also known as the Victor Fernandez Gaston Ancestral House, this museum in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, highlights the lifestyle of a late 19th-century Negrense sugar baron. It holds the distinction of being the first museum established in the province of Negros Occidental.

Hofilena Heritage House - During World War II, when the family sought refuge in the mountains, Japanese commanders used the house for meetings. Later, it was occupied by American forces. In 1962, the house was opened to the public, becoming the first ancestral house in the city to do so, with the next following 30 years later. The house also serves as a repository of art collected by owner-curator Ramon Hofileña and his family. The second floor features a gallery of over 1,000 art pieces, including works by national artists Juan Luna, Felix Resurrecion Hidalgo, Fernando Amorsolo, Ang Kiukok, Vicente Manansala, H.R. Ocampo, and BenCab. Additionally, it houses a sketch by the young national hero Jose Rizal and a painting by Spanish artist Francisco Goya.

San Diego Pro-Cathedral - Formerly known as the San Diego Parish Church or St. Didacus Parish Church before its designation as a pro-cathedral in 1994, this early 20th-century church in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, is the only pro-cathedral outside Manila. It is unique in Negros Occidental for being the only church in the province with a cupola or dome. The ruins of the older church, built in 1841, can be found behind it.

Cinco de Noviembre Memorial - The Cinco De Noviembre marker, or Farmacia Locsin, was owned by Don Leonardo de la Rama Locsin and served as a secret collection point for donations used in the Negros revolution. Instead of recording donors’ names and amounts, he used medicine names and grams to represent the money donated. This event showcased the Negrenses’ cleverness in deceiving the Spaniards while establishing a functioning government at a street corner.

Capitol Lagoon Park - Located in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, the Capitol Park and Lagoon is a provincial park featuring sculptures of a woman with a water buffalo and a man pulling another water buffalo. These sculptures, located at the lagoon’s northern and southern ends, were created by Italian sculptor Francesco Riccardo Monti, who also worked on the Metropolitan Manila Theater and the University of the Philippines - Visayas Iloilo campus. Guillermo Tolentino also contributed as a sculptor of the figures.

Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol - In 1926, Governor Jose Locsin initiated the construction of a provincial capitol building to reflect the province’s wealth, bolstered by the thriving sugar industry. The works of National Artist for Sculpture Guillermo Tolentino are displayed in the capitol building and the lagoon in front of it.

The Pope John Paul II Tower serves as a pilgrimage center, embodying and perpetuating the ideals, life, advocacies, commitment, and holiness of Pope John Paul II, a fervent promoter of the culture of life and love.
