Syapru Besi - The Langtang Valley Trek kicks off with a 7-hour journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, traveling along the renowned Prithvi Highway. The drive offers picturesque views of charming villages, terraced farms, lush green hillsides, and occasional mountains, leading to Galchi and Trishuli Bazaar. After a few hours, you’ll reach Dhunche, the administrative center of Rasuwa District. Syabrubesi serves as the entry point to many trekking destinations in the Langtang region, offering a range of facilities such as hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, ATMs, and shops. Enjoy a walk around the vibrant town of Syabrubesi to immerse yourself in the local culture.
Trek from Sybrubensi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7809 ft)
Langtang Valley - After an early breakfast, you’ll prepare your backpacks and begin your trek. You’ll cross a small suspension bridge over Ying Yang Khola, leaving the main road to follow a narrow trekking trail. The path runs alongside Langtang Khola with gradual switchbacks, surrounded by oak and rhododendron trees for most of the day. Keep an eye out for exotic birds and langurs along the trail. You’ll pass through several small teahouse settlements like Tiwari Gaon, Bamboo, and Rimche. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging after Rimche until you reach Lama Hotel.
Trek to Mundu (3550m/11647ft) via Langtang village
Langtang Valley - The trail leads to Langtang village, a rocky hillside with cascading waterfalls and occasional views of Langtang Lirung. You’ll follow the Langtang River uphill, passing the expansive yak pastureland of Ghoda Tabela, where you can admire the stunning Langtang Range and surrounding landscapes. With captivating views of the Langtang range, you’ll walk through a few villages and monasteries to reach the Tamang village of Langtang. Mundu is just a 30-minute walk away. The old houses in this area remind visitors of the valley’s traditional village architecture, though most lodges and homes are now built in a more modern style.
Mundu to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/13697ft)
Kyanjin Gompa - Leaving Mundu behind, you’ll head towards one of the trek’s most significant landmarks. The trail gently inclines through yak pastures, and the valley opens up, offering breathtaking views. On the way to Kyanjin Gompa, you’ll pass through several villages, water mills, and chortens. Kyangin Gompa is a monastery of great importance to the locals. As you travel, you’ll see numerous prayer flags, wheels, and small dwellings. The area is rich in Buddhist culture.
Upon arrival, you’ll have ample time to relax in the afternoon or explore the area. If you’re eager to see more, consider visiting Langshisha Kharka up the Valley for some stunning views.

Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel
Kyanjin Gompa - Starting from Kyanjin, you’ll retrace your steps down the valley, following the Langtang Khola to Mundu village and then to Ghoda Tabela. The descent is quicker than the ascent. After lunch, continue descending to Lama Hotel.
Lama Hotel to Sybrubensi
Hotel Garden Inn Shyfru Bensi - Today, you’ll retrace your path back to Syabrubesi. The adventure begins with a steep descent to Rimche, followed by a gradual path to Syabrubesi. The trail is lined with oak and rhododendron trees, offering splendid views of the Langtang Khola and exotic birds and animals. As you pass through villages, you’ll eventually reach the civilization of Syabrubesi. Before arriving at the bazaar, you’ll cross a suspension bridge and connect to a motorway.
Sybrubensi to Kathmandu
Thamel - After breakfast, you’ll depart from Sybrubensi and drive back to Kathmandu along the same route. Enjoy the scenic countryside views once more during the drive. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
