- Jerash Ruins - Explore the ancient temples, theaters, plazas, pathways, and colonnaded streets, all enclosed within the remaining city walls. These walls have revealed settlements from the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Umayyad, and Abbasid periods, showcasing over 2,500 years of human habitation. A local English-speaking guide will enhance your classic 2-hour visit to this Roman Decapolis City of Jerash. Once a thriving city in the Roman Empire, it was buried under sand for centuries until its discovery in 1806. Enter through the ancient city gate and wander the well-preserved ruins as your guide shares stories of its glorious past. Marvel at the arches, theaters, and the elegant colonnaded street. Capture photos of the breathtaking Oval Plaza, the Temples of Zeus and Artemis, and the unique egg-shaped public square surrounded by standing columns.
- Ajlun Castle (Qala’at ar-Rabad) - After exploring Jerash, proceed to the 12th-century Ajloun Castle, constructed during Saladin’s era to defend against Crusader forces. Enter this partially intact hilltop fortress, explore the winding corridors and staircases, observe the murder holes used by invaders, and enjoy the spectacular views over the lush hills of the Jordan Valley from the towers.
- Pella - Continue your journey to Pella, the remnants of a Hellenistic city, along with earlier and later settlements. First mentioned as “Pihilum” or “Pehel” by the Egyptians in the 19th century B.C., Pella flourished under Roman rule with the construction of temples, theaters, and baths. Discover antiquities dating back over 8,000 years. Then, reunite with your vehicle and relax on the long drive back to the Dead Sea, where your tour concludes with a hotel drop-off. Pella is a village in the northwest of Jordan, located east of Al Masharih town. The city was established during the Hellenistic Era in Alexander the Great’s time. The earliest literary reference to the city is from the 19th century BC, mentioned in Egyptian texts as Pihilum or Pehel. It was a bustling trade center with connections to Syria, Cyprus, and Egypt. Following the division of Alexander’s Empire, its name was Hellenized to Pella, in honor of Alexander’s birthplace.
