Walking along Pingjiang Road, you’ll see scenery as beautiful as a painting. One of the best ways to enjoy the charm of Pingjiang Road and its surroundings is by taking a traditional boat ride along the canals. Local boatmen often row you through the narrow water lanes, offering a different perspective of the area. It’s a relaxing and picturesque way to explore the old town of Suzhou.

• Panmen Gate - Next, head to Panmen Gate. Pan Gate is part of the ancient city wall built in 514 BCE that surrounded and protected Suzhou. Pan Gate was the only entrance to the wall that encircled ancient Suzhou. It is renowned in China for its architecture and is famous for its complex of both land and water city gates, often referred to as the “Land and Water Gate.” To attract more tourists, Suzhou has renovated the old wall and built many other attractions around the original gate in the Pan Gate Scenic Area.
• Shantang Street - Next, you will visit Shantang Street, also known as Seven-mile Shantang, a thriving ancient street block built in 852 AD. Visiting this historic place, you will see many charming old houses selling local food and delicate handicrafts, experiencing the authentic flavor of old Suzhou and Wu culture from ancient times. After Shantang Street, you will have had a wonderful tour of Suzhou. Our guide and driver will take you back to your hotel, railway station, or any other location in Suzhou.
