As a seasoned traveler and surfer, I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s call, but this time, I decided to trade my surfboard for a different kind of adventure. Sri Lanka, with its rich history and vibrant culture, beckoned me to explore its treasures. Our first stop was Sigiriya, a place that seemed to rise out of the mist like a scene from a dream. As I climbed to the top, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe at the ingenuity of the ancient builders. The following day, we explored Polonnaruwa, where the ruins of a once-great city whispered stories of a bygone era. As we traveled to Nuwara Eliya, the lush tea plantations stretched as far as the eye could see. The train journey from Nanu Oya to Ella was a highlight, as the scenic landscapes unfolded like a painting. Little Adamspeak and the 9-arch bridge were perfect spots for reflection, offering panoramic views that took my breath away.

Coastal Charms and Farewell

Our adventure took us to the coastal town of Unawatuna, where the golden sands and turquoise waters called to my surfer’s soul. Though I didn’t hit the waves this time, the beach’s laid-back vibe was a reminder of the carefree lifestyle I cherish. A visit to Mirissa and Galle Fort added a touch of history and charm to our coastal exploration. The fort’s colonial architecture and bustling streets were a delightful contrast to the tranquil beaches.

As our journey came to an end in Negombo, I reflected on the incredible experiences and the wonderful people who made it all possible. Gayan, our driver, was more than just a guide; he was a friend who shared his love for his country with us.
