Reviewed at 2023-10-27: Enlightening and Fun - I came to Batam by myself for a quick work trip, but managed to squeeze in a tour early in my visit. Din was my guide and he made sure we had a wonderful time. I enjoyed learning about the culture and customs of the area, not only from each of the places that we stopped, but also through lovely conversations Din and I had along the way. He helped me get some great pictures and made sure I had a fun, safe trip the entire time. The food was wonderful! I also did the tour including the massage. It was pretty intense, but it was exactly what I needed to work out all the kinks and knots I developed on the long flights over. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I’d definitely recommend it to any family or friends who visit in the future.
Culinary Delights Amidst the Rain
As the afternoon rain begins to fall, it’s time to indulge in Surabaya’s culinary scene. The Batam Day Tour includes a delightful lunch at Sederhana Restaurant, a popular Nasi Padang spot in Batam. Here, you can savor the rich flavors of Indonesian cuisine, from the spicy rendang to the comforting gulai. The meal is a feast for the senses, offering a taste of the region’s culinary heritage.
After lunch, explore the vibrant street food scene with treats like Gorengan and Onde Onde. These deep-fried snacks and sweet pastries are perfect for a rainy day, providing warmth and comfort as you watch the rain dance outside. The tour also offers an optional traditional massage, a perfect way to relax and rejuvenate after a day of exploration.
A Journey Through History and Tradition
As the day draws to a close, continue your cultural journey with a visit to the Tua Pek Kong Temple, also known as Vihara Budhi Bhakti. This is the oldest Chinese temple in Batam, offering a glimpse into the spiritual traditions that have shaped the region. The temple’s intricate carvings and vibrant colors are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia.
End your day with a visit to the Batik Factory Outlet, where you can shop for authentic Indonesian Batik and local handicrafts. This is a perfect opportunity to take home a piece of Indonesia’s artistic tradition, a reminder of your journey through Surabaya’s cultural landscape.
