Excellent training session - Very authentic Sumo experience. The morning workout session was a legitimate training activity not just for tourists but was meant for actual upcoming competition.

A good time - Met the guide and the others who had booked at Ryogoku station. Our guide gave us info about sumo and how to conduct ourselves at the practice (don’t show the soles of your feet to the wrestlers, no talking, pictures were okay but no videos, etc.) and then we walked over to the stable. There were only a few lower ranked wrestlers in practice because the winter tour was going on, but it was interesting to watch. I follow sumo so understood what the different drills were, but it probably would have been an advantage for the others to have some of that explained at the beginning. After the practice was over our guide took our pictures with some of the wrestlers. After we left we were able to ask him some questions about the practice. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I’d be happy to attend this again, maybe with better timing on my part so there are more wrestlers there.

Fascinating the world of Sumo - Mayu our tour guide was excellent. She gave us an overview and history of the Sumos with a greater insight of day to day being a Sumo. We met at the designated meeting point and on the way to the House where the Sumos she answers questions that we did not occur to ask at the intro. meeting. My only exposure to Sumo wrestling was only brief glimpses on the TV. The morning was well spent seeing the athletes train and how strong and agile they are. Well worth the effort and trip to see the training session of the Sumos. Highly recommended.

Awesome Experience - Experience was awesome and gave me a great appreciation of this rigorous sport. The guide was visible at the easy to find meeting point and provide valuable insight and explanation for the session. Highly recommend. Be aware you are sitting on the floor for an hour and 20 mins as the Sumos go through their training routines.

It was very interesting... - It was very interesting to watch the sumo wrestlers. It was a unique experience for sure. I was disappointed that we didn’t get more background on the practice, its origins, the way of life of the wrestlers, etc. If you are looking for a detailed tour with a lot of background information, this is not for you. But if you just want to watch the sumo wrestlers practice and see all of their warm-ups and moves and matches, then you will definitely enjoy.

A great experience, but keep in mind the wrestlers are there to train not entertain. - I’m a big fan of sumo, so this was a great experience. The number of wrestlers and length of train can vary due to the tour obligations of the wrestlers

OK experience - I think it was great to see the wrestling live, but the tour should be shorter b/c it just went on and on. Our guide was nice but was too quiet and basically didn't share anything interesting before we went in. I would have iked more detail on the wrestlers and the annual games and their diet and anything that could bring it to life.

Underwhelming at best - I'm not sure if my experience applies to any Viator sumo tour or just the one that i was on -- there was another tour when we arrived who 1) seemed to have gotten there at the start, ie, on time, and 2) had a guide who actually shared relevant info with them and seemed to have outlined a lot of context and detail prior to their arrival as they made multiple references to sheets of information like, "see this thing that we talked about, this is them doing that." i make this distinction because we did not even see a full hour of training, the tour guide was basically like, do you want to know anything? well ok if you have a question let me know and we'll step outside (you can't speak inside the stable). well noone had a question bc we had no idea what to even ask. anyway. half the wrestlers didn't even really participate in the training and later it came out that their coach wasn't there. i figure this is why only 1-2 of them were taking it seriously. it was a giant waste of time and not at all worth what i paid.
