Köpmantorget features the renowned statue of Saint George and the Dragon, a legendary European hero myth symbolizing Sweden’s victory over the Danes in 1471 in Stockholm. We will spend 5 minutes here before proceeding to Stortorget.
- Stortorget - Known as Stockholm’s most famous square, it was the site of the infamous Stockholm Bloodbath in 1520. Here, you will hear the gripping tale of this event, with the executioner’s presence perhaps still felt in the square. We will spend about 5-7 minutes here.
- Prästgatan - Named after the Swedish word for priest, this street had strong ties to the church and was once the city’s poor district. We will explore the dramatic period when the plague struck the city in 1350. Our visit here will last 5 minutes.
- Spektens Gränd - Continuing the story of the plague, we will discuss Prästgatan, known as the most haunted street in Old Town. Listen to eyewitness accounts of the hauntings in these neighborhoods. We will stay here for approximately 5 minutes.
- Stockholm Old Town - The next stop on the guided tour, where we will discuss the city’s infamous prison where the notorious regicide Jacob Johan Anckarström spent his final days before execution. Hear the legend of his ghostly footsteps in the alleys and the guide’s tales of his hauntings. We will stay here for 5 minutes.
- Prästgatan - Helvetesgränd, meaning the street of hell, is our next stop. This haunting site was once home to the executioner. Meet the executioner and hear his vivid stories of executions, his life, and how he became an executioner. Visitors will spend 5-7 minutes here.
- The Royal Palace - At this location, you will meet the famous architect Nicodemus Tessin from the European continent. Hear his stories about the royal castle, the great castle fire, and perhaps Sweden’s most terrifying ghost, the White Lady. This female figure has been seen by both Swedish royalty and tourists on the castle’s top floor. We will stay here for 5 minutes.
