• Vaxholm - Often called the capital of the archipelago, Vaxholm has a rich history of herring fishing spanning generations. In the 1500s, King Gustav Vasa chose this location for the defense of Stockholm’s inlet, marking the start of nearly 500 years of military history for Vaxholm’s residents. The Citadel still stands on the strait just outside the city. The old fortress was a self-contained community with senior military officers, their families, soldiers, servants, and prisoners. By the late 1800s, Vaxholm became a favored resort for Stockholm’s elite. It was also during this time that the city gained fame for its Vaxholm herring, a delicacy still enjoyed at local eateries today.
• Grinda - Grinda is a delightful destination for families. This island, also a nature reserve, is owned and managed by the Archipelago Foundation. It offers pleasant, family-friendly swimming areas at both the southern and northern steamboat piers. The island also boasts several stunning viewpoints. Enjoy a leisurely walk and soak in the peace and natural beauty. At Grinda Gård farm, visitors can see chickens, cows, and sheep in their natural habitats. The farm shop, open on select days during the summer, sells eggs, vegetables, meat, and sheepskin. Grinda also features a guest harbor, the pier restaurant “Framfickan,” the inn Grinda Wärdshus, a general store, and café. Welcome to Grinda.

Guests will be picked up from central Stockholm to embark on an exciting journey through the breathtaking Stockholm archipelago with our exhilarating RIB boat adventure, including a visit to the picturesque Island of Grinda.

The guide will share fascinating stories about the historic sites and homes you pass, along with the rich history of the archipelago.

After an energizing ride, disembark on Grinda Island to immerse yourself in the archipelago’s natural splendor. Grinda is a nature reserve managed by the Archipelago Foundation, ensuring no private properties are on the island. You will have 2 hours to explore the island’s beaches, forests, restaurants, and farm. Once you are ready, your captain will be waiting to return you to the city center.
