As we journey from Elati to Vytina, we observe the evolving landscapes and varied ecosystems along the way. Vytina, a quaint mountain village, greets us with a central square lined with delightful shops and cafes. Explore the village’s architecture, visit local artisan stores, and immerse in the cultural vibrancy of Vytina.
After a rest and resupply, we depart Vytina and proceed towards Nymphasia. We arrive at Old Vytina and the trailhead leading to Mavra Litharia, a colossal limestone rock in the Milaon River’s bed, split by the stream to form a short yet striking gorge. From here, we descend to Tzavarenas’ bridge, a sturdy stone bridge that historically linked Vytina with the western Gortynian villages. We arrive at Nymphasia, a small yet vibrant extension of Vytina.
