- Ipanema Beach - Nestled between Arpoador and Jardim de Alah, this is one of the country’s most renowned beaches (ever heard “Girl from Ipanema”?) and among the city’s busiest. Stretching about 2 km, some sections have strong waves and currents, perfect for sports.
- Copacabana Beach - Copacabana Beach is the city’s most iconic beach (perhaps even the country’s or the world’s), extending approximately 4 km. Its famous boardwalk features wave patterns in Portuguese stone, designed by the renowned Brazilian landscaper Burle Max.
In Copacabana, you’ll discover why cariocas have such a beautiful tan. As you explore these neighborhoods, you’ll receive tips on activities and hear fascinating stories about these streets.
- Botafogo Bay - Head downtown via the charming Botafogo shore for your first glimpse of Sugar Loaf. You’ll also enjoy beautiful views of Guanabara Bay.
This beach is ideal for those interested in sand sports like volleyball, soccer, and footvolley. Cycling, jogging, and hiking are popular here, thanks to the bike path and boardwalk leading to Flamengo Beach.
- Guanabara Palace - Pass through the historic Laranjeiras neighborhood, home to the Guanabara Palace, the former residence of Princess Isabel who signed the Golden Law to abolish slavery. Today, the Palace serves as the official headquarters of the Rio de Janeiro government.
- Sambodromo da Marques de Sapucai - Before reaching downtown, you’ll pass by the Sambodrome, the venue for the annual Samba School Parade.
- The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian - Admire the iconic Metropolitan Cathedral from outside and inside, built in a pyramidal shape with a 96-meter internal diameter and an 80-meter height.
- Rio de Janeiro Historic City Center - Embark on a comprehensive city tour of the downtown area. Enjoy a panoramic tour through historical streets and buildings, learning stories and curiosities of this significant area. Appreciate the traditional Cinelândia Square with its historical buildings, and admire the Municipal Theater’s Art Nouveau architecture.
- Aterro Do Flamengo - Travel to Urca via Aterro do Flamengo and its parks, designed by Burle Marx, and learn about Brazil’s role in World War II and the city’s founding in the late 1500s, just before arriving at Sugar Loaf.
- Morro da Urca - The first cable car takes you to Urca Hill, a 215-meter-high vantage point offering stunning views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo and Botafogo beaches, Santos Dumont Airport, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, Urca’s neighborhood, and Corcovado Mountain.
- Sugarloaf Mountain - A second cable car takes you to the summit. Once there, you’ll understand why Rio is considered one of the world’s most beautiful cities. At 395 meters, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Copacabana Beach, Niterói, and the Santa Cruz fortress. From this height, it’s easy to see why Rio is called the “Wonderful City.”
- Carretão Ipanema Classic Grill - After visiting Sugar Loaf Mountain, head to an all-you-can-eat barbecue house. Brazilian Churrascarias (Barbecue places) offer a wide variety of sides and alternative options, ensuring even vegetarians leave satisfied.
- Maracana - Take a lap around the stadium and make a brief stop to appreciate the grandeur of the two-time World Cup Finals host. Imagine the history that has unfolded since its opening in 1950 when Brazil hosted its first World Cup. You’ll view the stadium from the outside only.
- Parque Nacional da Tijuca - Upon reaching Cosme Velho Station, located at the base of Corcovado Mountain, board the train with pre-reserved tickets to save time. It will take you to the top, through the lush Tijuca Rainforest, to the 38-meter-tall (125 ft) Christ Redeemer Statue. The 20-minute ride offers a chance to fully appreciate the Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world, covering 7% of the city’s territory. It’s breathtaking and makes the trip worthwhile.
-
Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer - Upon arriving at the Statue, choose between reaching the top by lift and escalator or the traditional way via 222 steps. The reward is worth it. Once at the top, the views and the imposing statue will make you forget the climb! Looking up, you’ll feel blessed and protected by this magnificent monument of Christ with open arms, now one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! From here, you can see most of the city, the entire south zone, and all the way to Niterói. A unique view that will leave you in awe. You’ll have about 40 minutes to explore all sides and views of Corcovado and take photos.
After taking the train back down, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, where you can freshen up for about an hour before the evening portion of your Super Saver begins. - Theater Leblon Sala Fernanda Montenegro - After pickup at your hotel in Rio de Janeiro, travel to the Ginga Tropical Show venue. During the Ginga Tropical Show, you’ll witness dancers performing bossa nova, samba, and various other Brazilian musical and dance styles.
