FAVELATOUR is essential for those seeking a deeper understanding of Brazil’s complex socioeconomic landscape. This tour connects visitors with locals, offering a fresh perspective on favelas and their communities, and transforming their image from one of exclusion.
Participants will visit Rocinha, the largest favela in Brazil, and possibly Vila Canoas, depending on the weather. The tour also provides stunning panoramic views of Rio. Guests will explore both residential and commercial areas, with the opportunity to purchase beautiful handcrafted items if desired.
The tour includes a visit to a local school funded by FAVELA TOUR and showcases other community projects. Favelas are safer than commonly perceived, but regardless of one’s adventurous spirit, it is recommended to visit with an organized tour. FAVELATOUR has been a pioneer in social tours to favelas since early 1992.
To truly grasp the essence of Brazil, don’t leave Rio without experiencing the FAVELA TOUR. Please note, tours are not available on Sunday afternoons and require a minimum number of participants to proceed.
