The tour will guide visitors through this lush green paradise, where they can observe birds, small mammals, and exotic plants. Commonly seen species include Saguis and Capuchin monkeys, as well as quatis (Brazilian raccoons). Birdwatchers may spot toucans, canaries, buzzards, hawks, and many other species. Various routes combine the Forest with visits to Sugar Loaf, Corcovado, and the beaches of the west coast; check out our combo section for more details. The tour includes visits to Taunay’s Falls (for photos only, no swimming), Vista Chinesa (Chinese View), and the Visitor Center.
- Cascatinha Taunay - A stop at the Taunay waterfalls is included for photos and to learn about the location and its name. There is a chance to see wildlife such as raccoons and monkeys.
- Capela Mayrink - The tour stops outside the chapel, where visitors can view famous paintings by Brazilian artists from the outside. A short 20-minute hike around the chapel is also included.
- Vista Chinesa - The tour includes a stop at Vista Chinesa (Chinese View), an early 20th-century structure built to honor the Chinese community that once lived in the lower forest areas, cultivating tea. The city views from this spot are breathtaking.
- Emperor’s Table - A brief stop at Mesa do Imperador (Emperor’s Table), a stone table from the 19th century that hosted picnics for Rio’s high society, including Emperor Dom Pedro II, is part of the tour.
- Cachoeira dos Primatas - The tour also includes a quick stop at Cachoeira dos Primatas (Monkey’s Waterfalls), named for the numerous monkeys that can be seen there daily.
- Açude da Solidão - This charming little lake, located near the national park’s exit in sector A, is home to many turtles and carp fish.

Well organized, thanks Bernardo! - The tour was incredibly (Christo+ Nationalparc) well organized from start to finish. Bernardo was extremely friendly and clearly put a great deal of effort into everything. You can genuinely learn a lot during the tour, as he shares very interesting and engaging facts throughout. It was perfectly organized from A to Z.

Best Tijuca tour - My family and I had a blast on this tour. Felipe was our guide and he was puntual, super nice and knowledgeable about Rio and the forest. He took us to all the hot spots for excellent picture taking. He was helpful in taking our photos and getting us to our next tour. I would definitely recommend this tour.

What an awesome tour!! - Right from the first plea for help, Rio adventures were absolutely outstanding. They hooked us up with a tour that fit us beautifully. Communication was the best. We had the most amazing time with our guide, Gilberto, who was really patient, knowledgeable and so adaptable. He communicated with me via WhatsApp the day prior to our tour and his instructions about where to meet feom our cruise was precise and easy to follow.. a short 3min walk. Absolutely safe as houses. Our tour was so good, waterfalls and caves. The weather turned, and we ended up cutting our forest tour short.. our decision. But Gilberto took us to a few amazing places to fill in our time. We ALL thoroughly enjoyed our day.

It’s an open air Jeep so... - It’s an open air Jeep so best to remind clients to bring some protection from sun or rain or winds. Best thing about this tour was some view points, looking down onto the city and surrounding area.

Good guide but not much to see - Eliel, our guide, was very good. The “jeep” is a Chevrolet truck but was good. The forest is in the city. We saw no animals or birds. We could not go into the visitor center or the Chinese palace. The short waterfall was scenic. We were unable to go to the taller waterfall. The drive back through the beach areas was the highlight.

Good jeep tour, not sure if the hike to Pedra Bonita is always included - Our jeep tour was great, and the guide was excellent. The Organizer told us (via WhatsApp) the day before that the hike to Pedra Bonita was canceled due to weather-related reasons and that we would be offered an alternate hike. However, the guide on the day of the tour told us there was no hike included and that it was just a jeep tour. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this tour. Management of this tour appears to be very unorganized.

Disappointing and unsafe - This tour was not as described. It was not in a jeep, and the "adventure" component was not as expected. We hiked less than a quarter of a mile on a trail from one side of a roadway to another. Our guide was not knowledgeable about the wildlife and didn't know much about the forest, its history, or other background. His driving was dangerous, and we even had a tire blowout after he hit a rock. He drove us to Santa Teresa and the Selaron steps, but he had nothing to share with us about what we were looking at. I would encourage other travelers to find a safer, more knowledeable tour operator.
