Adventure in the mountains - What a wonderful journey into the mountains! The views are spectacular, the people are generous and friendly, the food at the top is wonderful, and the cable car is quite the thrill. Would absolutely recommend. If you’re coming from Lucerne, the cheapest and easiest way to get there is by train. We didn’t know that and spent far too much money on a taxi! That’s our pearl for fellow travelers.

excellent excursion - Beautiful viewpoint, Pleasant Welcoming, pity cloudy weather with some clearing that still allowed us to have a magnificent view

Exceptional experience!!! - An exceptional experience is unique to be able to travel on the roof of a gondola in the open air. This allowed us to have a 360° view of the mountains. One starts with a 19th century funicular and a 2000s gondola to get to the top of a wonderful mountain and I was able to tackle a hike that I excel at. Even if we don't come to walk, it's a place of relaxation with a marmot park, rangers that explains the area, a viewpoint and a place of gastronomy. I recommend this ride.

Worth it but be ready if you plan to hike… - It is amazing to see the vistas and go up the gondola. We hiked down from the top to catch the funicular. That hike down was supposed to take 2 hours and 45 minutes. We did it in just over 2 hours. It is a difficult hike down…all are in relatively good shape and all of us were exhausted. The two days after the hike down our legs were so sore. But worth it. Just be ready for a strenuous downhill experience. Lots of cows and goats.

An exhilarating experience riding on the roof - We were recommended to travel to the Stanserhorn by a local. This cable car is apparently unique in that passengers can stand on the top outside which I did both ways. It takes a bit of getting used to but it was an exciting experience and very worthwhile.

Great track combination - The ride on the Stanserhorn railway was a real highlight – first nostalgic with the old funicular railway, then modern and airy on the open upper deck of the CabriO railway. The view above is breathtaking, the revolving restaurant invites you to linger. Ideal for nature lovers, families and anyone who loves fresh mountain air. Highly recommended! We got off on foot.

Family fun - You can walk down halfway to the bottom on a nice trail. No need to reserve a space to walk down. If planning on taking the gondola down you need to reserve a spot.

Excursion is worth it, but only when you don't want to eat. - Had bad luck with the weather, but the ride was still good, I thought I would treat myself to a fine lunch, but was very disappointed, bad cooked canteen food

The counterintuitive booking rules made my trip impossible. - An experience that speaks against any spontaneous journey up the Stanserhorn. To the ticket (no matter where you got this from), a boarding ticket must be purchased for the desired time. This can only be done until 9 a.m. of the respective day. If not, you can only solve one in a line ON THE SPOT. Had 1.5 hours to wait until I could queue with a ticket purchased ON SITE. When queuing up for the ascent, you then learn that a boarding ticket also has to be purchased for coming down and that this can only be solved at the top of the mountain with the (this time for me 3 hour waiting period). The staff had to answer 100 questions and the mood and pitch was accordingly. What idiot made this up? ONLY LEAVE IF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHEN YOU ARE GOING UP AND WHEN YOU ARE GOING DOWN AND MINING AGAIN. 1 DAY BEFORE ALL BOOKING incl. both BOARDING tickets. As an inland tourist, I have rarely been annoyed like this counterintuitive approach.

A Bad Day - The venue did not recognize or accept our Trip Advisor voucher. I talked my way in and boarded the train then the gondola. At the top we were told they were slotting the return trip down and our first chance to go down was 3 1/2 hours later. 3 1/2!! A nice meal and some sight seeing would take 90 minutes. Not 3 1/2 hours. Being held captive on the trip was inexcusable. Going down we went thru the whole ticket thing again. The trip could have been fun, interesting, and scenic but not that day.
