Great outdoor hiking - It was wonderful. There were 3 of us and our guide. Hiking through the forest with the trees turning color was amazing. Just a few other hikers were encountered. Once out of the trees, we were on the plateau. The view with the huts was very scenic, as were the nearby mountains. It felt great to be hiking. The cattle were no longer pasturing there as the season had ended. We hiked to a hut/ cafe and snacked for a bit before continuing. It ended too soon. A great trip for getting outdoors and hiking for a few hours. The hike up is a bit steep, but no problem if you take your time.

Very scenic - Very scenic, easy to walk around once you are on top, a short uphill walk from the carpark so some fitness required. Matt was a good guide, we enjoyed our short time there.

Fantastic experience with a wonderful guide! - Recommended new experience, to see glimpses of different Slovenian rural aspects, the shepherd village is a must. We were amazed by the social skills and the width of knowledge and understanding by our guide(s).

Foggy… - There was really dense fog on the plateau when we arrived, so it was quite different from the photos you see. However, it was kind of magical, and a totally new experience to me. By noon the fog had cleared a lot, but then it was time to start our descent. Maybe the tour should start later during foggy seasons, so that the sun would clear at least most of the fog? Our guide, a young man, hadn’t done his homework. He thought there would still be cows up on the plateau, but they had been already taken down to the valley. He also planned to have lunch in a restaurant, but it was closed for the season. (Also the museum, chapel and even the outdoor privies were closed.) He said we’d have a coffee later, as we could not go to the restaurant. One person in our group needed to go to the bathroom. When we were in the van, the guide said we’d stop at a petrol station, but there weren’t any nearby. When we drove through the town of Kamnik, I asked if we could have our coffee there. The guide said he would stop at a petrol station, as he was in a hurry, having another group in the afternoon. We had our first toilet break at 1 pm., having started the tour at 8 am. We were told we could get take-away coffees. The place didn’t sell even chocolate. We arrived in Ljubljana at 1.40 pm., 20 minutes ahead of time. The day before, we had been on another tour. At one stop, we managed to enjoy coffee in an outdoor cafe, go to the loo and even take pictures of a beautiful lake - all in 30 minutes.

Proceed at your own risk - I thought this was going to be a nice hike through beautiful scenery. While the scenery was nice, the hike itself was not safe. You will walk up a winding somewhat steep gravel road which wasn’t too bad. This is followed by climbing up big boulders where swarms of flies live. There were so many, that if you proceed to get a better view, be careful. Trying to swat them off of you while climbing can cause a fall. My guide also went over barb wire to get an even better view. When you see barb wire, it means stay out not climb over. I unfortunately fell when walking back down the road to the van. My guide only asked if I was ok but did not offer help. I couldn’t get to my band aids as my hands were bleeding. Two other travelers helped me but the guide did not even stop to give me time to apply the supplies they had. Once back at the van, we were offered water but I wasn’t offended any first aid supplies. When I reported my fall, I was told there are first aid kits but it was never offered so how was I to know there was one. We did stop at a gas station as someone needed to use the restroom. I was able to clean up better there. My guide again asked if I was ok, but what would have done if I said no? I just wanted to go back my hotel as I was hurt and still bleeding. It just concerned me because if my fall was more serious, I really would have been in trouble. Please take caution if you are considering this tour.
