- Oldest Wooden School House - The tour begins here, where the tale of the historic house and its ghosts unfolds. Constructed in 1716, it stands as the oldest wooden building in St. Augustine, rich with history.
Throughout the years, its walls have served as barracks for British soldiers, a school for local youth, and the residence of Juan Genopoly, a Minorcan leader.
And their spirits have chosen to remain.
The story is shared from the outside, as we do not enter the building.
- City Gate Spirits - Built in 1808, the old city gates of St. Augustine replaced a decaying wooden structure. Towering three stories high, they are a beloved tourist spot.
Over the years, these gates have protected the city’s residents from invasions.
Local lore suggests they are haunted by the spirit of 10-year-old Elizabeth.
- Huguenot Cemetery - In 1821, a yellow fever epidemic claimed over 400 lives in St. Augustine, more than a third of its population at the time.
In their haste, local authorities buried the decaying bodies of the Huguenots in a mass grave.
The tale of this haunted burial ground and the spirits that roam its grounds will be shared.
- Potter’s Wax Museum - Established in 1948, Potter’s Wax Museum was the first wax museum in America, featuring over 160 eerie wax figures. Many of these characters have long since passed away.
The wooden building housing it was constructed in 1739 and relocated here in 1887. Before becoming a wax museum, it was a pharmacy, reputedly the oldest in the US.
And it is said to be haunted!
- Tolomato Cemetery - As Florida’s oldest burial ground, dating back to the 1700s, Tolomato Cemetery is the final resting place for bishops, slaves, murderers, and over 1,000 bodies. The story of the boy who haunts its grounds and his headstone will be shared. Note that we remain at the gate and do not enter the cemetery.
- The Old Powder House Inn Bed and Breakfast - In the 1700s, this location housed the Spanish gunpowder and ammunition warehouse.
Over time, it has been a boarding house, a grocery store, and now a delightful bed and breakfast, haunted by the friendliest of ghosts.
Today, it is haunted by the kindest spirits, eager to meet visitors!
