Srinagar - Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar – Start of Acclimatization
The Umlingla Pass Cycling Expedition kicks off as participants arrive at Srinagar Airport, located at an elevation of 1,585 meters (5,200 feet). This initial stop is essential for acclimatization, allowing the body to gradually adapt to the higher altitudes that will be encountered in the following days.
An MTB Kashmir representative will welcome participants at the airport and facilitate their transfer to the hotel in Srinagar. The day is reserved for rest and light activities — participants can explore Dal Lake or nearby local markets at their leisure.
Spending the first night in Srinagar ensures a comfortable and secure beginning to the journey, preparing participants for the adventure ahead towards Leh (3,500m) and ultimately the impressive Umlingla Pass (19,024 ft).

Leh to Hymia via Upshi Cycling Start (85kms)

Thiksey Monastery - Begin the day early in Leh with a hearty breakfast. Set off on the journey, gradually ascending through the scenic Indus Valley. Pass through the historic town of Shey and the impressive Thiksey Monastery. As altitude increases, be prepared for possible headwinds. Arrive at Hyma, a quaint village surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. Check into the homestay and enjoy a warm dinner.

Hymia to Nyoma via Chumathang 110kms

Thiksey Monastery - After a nutritious breakfast at the homestay, continue the journey, crossing the expansive More Plains, a high-altitude desert. The road is mostly flat, but strong headwinds may pose a challenge. Arrive at Nyoma, a historic town renowned for its ancient monasteries and stunning landscapes. Check into the homestay and enjoy dinner.
