Udawalawe is famous for its significant population of Sri Lankan elephants, often spotted in the park’s open areas, particularly near the reservoir. Besides elephants, the park hosts water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys, and occasionally leopards. Udawalawe is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, boasting a diverse array of resident and migratory birds.

11:30 hrs – Leave the national park and head to a local restaurant for lunch.

• Elephant Transit Home (ETH) - 13:00 hrs – Continue to visit the Elephant Transit Home.

The Elephant Transit Home (Ath Athuru Sevana) is a government-operated rehabilitation center located in Udawalawe, Sri Lanka. It offers care for orphaned, abandoned, injured, or sick baby elephants found in the wild. These elephants are cared for and treated in a secure environment until they are ready to be released back into their natural surroundings.

15:00 hrs – Leave Udawalawe and return to Hambantota Port.
