My journey began with a private air-conditioned taxi ride from the cruise terminal, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the day. The anticipation of exploring Sri Lankan cuisine was palpable as we made our way to a bustling local market.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by Nim, our guide and chef extraordinaire. His warm smile and infectious enthusiasm immediately put me at ease. As we wandered through the market, Nim introduced us to an array of local vegetables and fruits, each with its own story and significance.
