• Diocletian Palace Substructures - The nearest entrance and the most distinctive part of Diocletian’s Palace, these substructures represent the Palace as it is known today and are among the best-preserved examples of ancient Rome.
• Vestibulum of Diocletian’s Palace - A remarkable circular hall at the center of the Palace, which once served as the grand entrance to the Emperor’s private quarters.
• The Peristyle of Diocletian’s Palace - This ancient central square of Diocletian’s Palace is located in front of the Emperor’s private quarters and is a global phenomenon with breathtaking scenery.
• Cathedral of Saint Domnius - Originally the Emperor’s mausoleum, it is now the main cathedral in Split. Visits are only from the outside (entrance fee not included).
• The Golden Gate - The main entrance to Diocletian’s Palace, exclusively for the Emperor. The Gate holds a special secret known as the Propugnaculum.
• Grgur Ninski Statue - The tallest statue in Split, created by the renowned sculptor Ivan Meštrović, serves as the Palace’s gatekeeper. Rubbing his toe is considered a symbol of good luck.
• Pjaca - Commonly referred to as ‘Pjaca,’ this large square symbolizes Split’s expansion during Medieval times, as it is outside Diocletian’s Palace. Each palace on the square signifies growth, having been built in different centuries.
• Fruit’s Square (Trg Brace Radic) - Once a green market, it retains a variation of its name. Key attractions include the Marko Marulić statue, the father of Croatian literature, and the Venetian fortress, a symbol of their fifteenth-century rule.
