I am a 53 year old disabled woman with severed balance nerves. I am out of shape and haven’t been on a horse in 40 years. I was apprehensive, but I wanted to take my daughter because she had never been horseback riding and we’ve never been to Kodachrome Basin before. From the moment we arrived, everyone was so caring and helpful. The horses were such gentle, sweet animals. We went on the ride and it was fantastic from the first moment to the last.
Our guide was awesome, and he told us so many interesting details about the history, rock formations, and native plants and animals that we would find occupying this basin. He immediately put me at ease about the ride and then continued to entertain us with stories about the Native Americans and early pioneers that were part of the local history. By the end of the ride, he felt like part of the family and we continued to see him in the days that followed. He would always have a smile and a wave and we were so happy to have met him.
We chose to do the ride as our first activity in the park, before any hikes or exploring anything and I’m so glad we did. For the next several days we hiked the park and recognized many of the landmarks, plants, and history that we had heard about from him.
If I were in the area again, signing up for a ride with Red Canyon would be my first priority. My only regret is that I didn’t go back the second day for another ride and that I didn’t have any carrots to give to my horse as a “Thank you” for the job well done!
Guide Steve is experienced and has a lot of knowledge and great stories. Landscape is wonderful.
It was great but we didn’t have time to drink water and to take photos
Ride was fun, the guides were friendly and helpful, the horses were steady and obedient and the trail was awesome with beautiful scenery.
Steve explain USA lot of things about plants and animals. We were alone with him, in a very nice environment.

It was a perfect day and a perfect ride. Jeff was extremely helpful, entertaining and patient! We enjoyed getting to know him and would definitely ride again in the future. Viki and Roddy from North Carolina.
Guide (Jeff) was great. Reassuring, competent, personable...like riding with a close friend. Chosen route was impressive. Felt like we were riding rather than merely sitting on a walking horse. Thanks for a memorable experience.
The ride with Jeff was fun and relaxing. He was very kid friendly as was the horse Comanche.
