- Windsor Castle - Windsor Castle holds the title of the oldest and largest inhabited castle globally. It welcomes visitors all year round.
Established by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has served as the residence for 40 monarchs.
Located in Windsor, Berkshire, about 25 miles (40 km) west of central London, Windsor Castle is a royal residence deeply connected with the English and later British royal family, showcasing nearly a thousand years of architectural history.
The initial construction of the castle began in the 11th century, following the Norman conquest of England by William the Conqueror. Since the reign of Henry I (1100–1135), it has been the residence of the reigning monarch, making it the longest-occupied palace in Europe.
- Winchester Cathedral - Winchester Cathedral is a treasure trove of English national heritage, with its stones narrating the tales of Kings and Queens, statesmen, and politicians. It also reflects the dedication and influence of monks, pilgrims, writers, artists, and everyday people.
Community has been central to its identity since the establishment of the Benedictine Monastery over a millennium ago. Today, the Cathedral hosts a vibrant Christian community, extending a warm Benedictine welcome to all visitors and worshippers, treating them as if they were Christ himself.
After exploring the cathedral, visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk to appreciate the beauty and history of this charming city.
- Jane Austen’s House - Located in the Hampshire village of Chawton, Jane Austen’s House is a significant literary landmark. It was in this inspiring cottage that Jane Austen’s talent blossomed, leading to the creation, revision, and publication of all six of her cherished novels. Step back to 1816 and walk in Jane’s footsteps; explore the rooms where she lived and wrote, and view her writing table, jewelry, letters, and first editions of her novels up close. Enjoy the picturesque cottage garden, try traditional garden games, and partake in Regency dress-up, bonnet designing, and more! Browse the unique selection of gifts and books in the charming Gift Shop and relax with an ice cream on the lawn.
Jane Austen is interred in the north nave aisle of Winchester Cathedral, attracting visitors from around the globe year-round to pay their respects.
- Arundel Castle and Gardens - With nearly a millennium of history, this impressive castle is set in stunning grounds overlooking the River Arun in West Sussex, constructed at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel.
The oldest part is the motte, an artificial mound over 100 feet high from the dry moat, built in 1068, followed by the gatehouse in 1070. King Henry I (1068-1135) bequeathed the Castle and lands to his second wife, Adeliza of Louvain. Three years after his passing, she married William d’Albini II, who constructed the stone shell keep on the motte. King Henry II (1133-89), who built much of the oldest stone Castle, confirmed William d’Albini II as Earl of Arundel in 1155, with the Honour and Castle of Arundel.
