Kruger National Park - We arrive at our accommodation in the afternoon, just in time for an afternoon game drive along the famous routes around Skukuza Camp. This area is home to the Big 5, and we hope to spot my favorite animal, the wild dogs. These animals have been reintroduced into Kruger Park, and there are now five packs roaming freely. They were once nearly extinct, but it seems they are now forming large families that can protect them from predators. This is a brief introduction to tomorrow’s full day in the park. We will return just in time for the gates to close. Your air-conditioned accommodation will be ready, along with a delicious dinner to enjoy.
Kruger National Park - We will go on an afternoon sunset game drive. There is a R450 entry fee into Kruger Park. This game drive is optional.
Kruger National Park Full Day Game Drive
Skukuza - It’s July, August, September, October, and November. These are the best months to visit the park, so let’s enjoy a full day of spotting many predators and game. We will wake up early to start our morning game drive as the Phabeni gates open. We will begin by looking for the wild dogs. This is the golden hour for sightings at Kruger Park—the best time is early morning, and we have a good idea of where they might be, so let’s hope for a sighting. We will then spend the rest of the morning looking for animals. The full day is long but rewarding as we explore the famous area surrounding the Crocodile River from Skukuza to Lower Sabie. This area attracts animals coming to drink during the dry season. Predators are aware of this and will be waiting to pounce. There is so much to see, as the area is full of elephants, hippos, crocodiles, birds, and many other animals, including the Big 5. This is the best wildlife park in South Africa, if not the world, and it will be a wonderful addition to your bucket list.
Kruger National Park - We will drive the famous Lower Sabie Road along the Crocodile River and then exit through Phabeni Gate. These roads are traditionally regarded as the best for sightings of the Big 5, wild dogs, cheetahs, and much more.
Skukuza Loop and Phabeni Gate
Phabeni - On our last day, we hope our short trip into the park via Phabeni Gate will be rewarding. The early morning drive is perfect for wild dog sightings and the Big Five. Then it’s back to Johannesburg, hopefully with lots of memories and hundreds of photos.
