Pompey and vesuvius well worth the effort and crowds - Sensible walking shoes and carry water Would be our advice and keep an eye on the guide in pompey as there's lot's people and vesuvius is 1.9 kms and steep but very doable if taken slowly . we're in our sixties and we did it in an hour and a half

Pompei informative/ Mt. Vesious cold - Going early to Pompei was a good idea, since it gets so busy. Tour guide was very informative and spoke English well. Mt. Vesious wasn't described well in website description. It was very cold and windy and stated an easy walk . It was 1.5 kilometers all uphill with higher altitude. I'm in good shape and got very tired. We didn't go have warm enough clothes and froze!

No regrets! - The meeting place was easy to find, the tour guide on the bus and to Mount Vesuvius shared great information, was funny and super friendly. There was a different guide at Pompeii but she was equally as fantastic. Not having to stress about travelling and then not having to wait in the crazy line at Pompeii was WELL worth the price.

What a wonderful and well... - What a wonderful and well organised trip from start to finish. Our guide Lucio, was very knowledgable, with a great sense of humour and brilliant on the coach trips. Once in Pompeii, our guide Patricia took us on a whistle stop 2 hour tour of Pompeii, which was action packed but also never felt rushed. We then had a light lunch in Zeus, which was delicious and served quickly. The 24 minute climb from 1000 metres to the top of Versuviuus was marred by the rain, however this is obviously uncontrollable by Viator. We still very much enjoyed the climb and although didn’t get the view I’d wished for due to the cloud, I’m still grateful I can say I’ve climbed to the top.

A wonderful experience visiting Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius - Visiting Pompeii was a super fun and historical experience! You really feel like you get a true understanding of what it was like to live in Pompeii. Daniella was an absolutely incredible tour guide!! She had the sweetest Italian accent and we loved how she shared her favorite parts about Sorrento and Italy as a whole. Patricia was also wonderful! She was another one of our tour guides for Pompeii and she made it very easy to get through the insanely large groups of people that were also visiting the site. She did a great job of explaining the history of how Pompeii operated as a city and how it was eventually destroyed by Mount Vesuvius. Overall an awesome experience to visit Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius!

Well worth every cent - Well worth the cost as it is super organised, gets you through the crowds of Pompeii with a minimum of fuss and you are able to see and learn all about the Roman life of first century BCE as well as the eruption of 79AD and the eventual excavation and archeological discoveries. Our guide Lucio was excellent…very personable, funny and helpful. The bus driver Luigi navigated the perilous roads to Pompeii and Vesuvius with great skill and care. The archeologist Monica who took us through Pompeii was knowledgeable and experienced in handling the group and the crowds. I’m so glad we booked this tour instead of trying to do it ourselves- we would not have gotten a fraction out of the experience and it would have been super frustrating having to line up with the madding crowd rather than being directed through the mayhem with skill.

Great day trip - would 100% recommend. - We had a great day visiting Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius! Lulu was a fantastic tour guide - she was so happy and informative which made things really easy for us. Luigi was our tour guide for Pompeii - he was extremely informative and you could tell he was passionate about it. We visited Pompeii on a beautiful day and we really enjoyed everything we saw + learnt so much. The skip the line tickets were extremely important as the lines were massive when we left. It was definitely an early start but I am thankful for it because we were able to get there before a majority of the crowds arrived. The only thing I would recommend is to change their recommendation for lunch - the food was not very good. At least it was cheap lol! Climbing Mt Vesuvius was a great experience. Again, it was a beautiful day so we were able to get a great view down the crator. We had plenty of free time here which was really great. There are even a number of shops/bars along the way, so can refresh with a nice drink when you reach the top! Very thankful we did this day trip :)

Sorrento to Pompeii to almost Vesuvio - Our tour started from Sorrento to Pompeii and then to be Vesuvio. Michelle (Mimi) was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide, who gave us information about the different areas we drove through. I love that he has deep pride in being a Neapolitan! Luigi (Gigi) took over as our guide through Pompeii, and he gave us information that he would not have known otherwise. He painted a clear picture of how life was in 79 AD. He also demonstrated great respect for the city and the old inhabitants of Pompeii. It was a disappointment that we did not get to climb Vesuvio because of the rain, but we waited for a long time at the base because Mimi was waiting for the volcano experts to declare that it was unsafe for hiking before we left. We were all patient and grateful that he took that effort. I felt like he was truly disappointed for us. Sidenote: consider eating in other restaurants down the street for lunch if you don’t like the menu at Zeus restaurant, which is the most convenient place. Also if there’s a chance of rain, bring a raincoat if you don’t want to spend five euros at the gift shop. I highly recommend this tour.

Need more experience, education & passion on subject matter - Probably book this tour if you want a nice convenient way to get to Pompeii and mt versuvius, but the tour guides we had have no passion or extensive knowledge of the two sites which was disappointing. Danielle, our guide for the day was a nice girl but very difficult to understand her, and to be understood by her. Worst of all she had no passion for history/archeology or either of the sites we went to and imparted no real knowledge to the group. She talked a lot but about food and her life and the general area of Sorrento. When we got to Pompeii she had no guide flags so really hard to see and follow her which made entering difficult cause so many people in crowd. One positive is the tour starts early so you get to Pompeii almost as it opens. Once there you are handed off to a guide inside, I didn’t catch her name but she was an older Italian lady in her 70s or so. She had some knowledge of Pompeii yes but her delivery was so monotone, boring and difficult to understand that I didn’t take anything in. Which is a shame because I’ve experienced some fantastic passionate guides in Italy (and heard some around us in Pompeii). It was also rushed only 2 hours and my advice would be you need more to see everything, we know she walked the group straight past some big points of interest like the basilica. To sum up, easy way to see both sights in comfort of a coach. But very disappointed in guide’s knowledge and passion for subject matter-it really makes all the difference.
