Well worth the effort - We had an experienced guide , Roberta, who clearly enjoyed her work and that made it more enjoyable for us. Yes, it’s hot, of course but well worth the effort. The train was really overcrowded but this added to the adventure

Great experience - must see - The tour guide was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and showed us more than we would’ve seen on our own. She also gave us recommendations of what to see on the end of the tour. I do wish we spent a little more time with the tour guide but we did have to wait at the train for a bit and it was pretty busy in Pompeii. Overall our favourite tour in Italy

Very informative guide; but the tour somehow missed something that I can’t put my finger on ……………. - Very informative guide; but as a group of 34 (it was larger than expected), Pompeii was very overcrowded with other tours / tourists and there no photo opportunities with us to be in them ; we just had to snap quickly as we went whilst the tour had to move to allow other tours.

Great guide very... - Great guide very knowledgeable, we had a great tour around Pompeii and were able to see all the main parts in the two hours we had booked. Only issue we had was the train as they just told us to go to platform and get on the train. Ourselves and others weren't sure if it was the correct one, but once confirmed everything else went smoothly. Would recommend it.

Great guide, too many people - The guide Natalia was very good. The group was too big(30 people) and sometimes the ear set cut out if you were at the back of the group.

Nice tour spoilt by size of group - This tour was well organised but the enjoyment of it was spoilt by the size of our group. It was massive. So much so, that if you were at the back of the group the headset you get given so you can hear your guide goes out of range. This happened a lot during the tour. It would have been so much more enjoyable numbers be limited to a maximum of 15. The tour started well. The meeting point is easy to find as it’s directly outside the train station. The guide greeted us and gave us our train tickets. In order to guarantee you get a seat on the train they get you there half an hour before the train departs meaning you have to sit around and wait. We wanted to get going early as the further into the day it gets the hotter it gets and there is very limited shade at Pompeii. The journey takes around 45 minutes so once we got into Pompeii itself it was around 11am and already extremely hot. My advice would be not to visit Pompeii in the height of summer. There were way too many people and walking around in 35 degree heat with very little shade isn’t fun. If you have no choice but to go in peak season make sure you take plenty of water and an umbrella to provide you with some shade. The tour felt quite rushed and there wasn’t much time for people to stop and take photos. You do have the option to stay on at Pompeii and get a train back by yourself which would give you the chance to take photos in your own time but we struggled to cope in the intense heat so we had to head back directly after the tour. The other downside to this tour is that in peak season you will almost certainly have to stand on the train for your return journey home and you’ll also be packed in like sardines in a can. I should imagine this tour would be a lot more enjoyable done outside of peak season. I appreciate the tour accompany has no control over the weather but the enjoyment of this tour was definitely spoiled by the size of our group and I think they should consider limiting their numbers.
