Top class tour... a must see in Sorento. - Super tour of a small factory learning about the fascinating and skilled work that Umberto and his family do. The inlaid wood products they make are so beautiful and we even got to try our hand at putting together a small coaster with an intricate design. It is a real skill and we admire the dedication and patience that are needed to make the stunning pieces. Well worth going on the tour, so interesting!! Thank you so much Umberto ans all for showing us. Highly recommend.

Interesting tour, fabulous artwork - My husband and I are admirers of various artisans and were curious about how inlaid wood is crafted. This did not disappoint. No only did we learn about the woods used and the processes used to craft the beautiful creations you see in the store... but I was allowed to use the saw to cut intricate pieces, and piece together a circular piece that was given to me to keep. We visited his store later in the day, and purchased several items to be shipped to our home. Beautiful work!

This is a rare place actually worth your money! - If you have the chance to go, please visit this workshop. I'm so thankful that we stumbled upon the factory tour they provide. It's such an underrated tour and is overshadowed by all of the boat/cooking/lemon tours offered in the area but it is absolutely worth your time and money. This is a true family owned and operated business and the factory is where every piece is designed and made. Umberto met us at their shop and drove us to their factory where his father and brother were working. Every item is made with care and intention. It's a stunning and dying art and it was incredible to see all of the drafted designs. I genuinely consider the pieces I bought as heirloom pieces to pass down to my children one day. I can't speak highly enough about it. If you are looking to shop on your vacation in Italy, this is a fantastic choice to buy some high-quality, long-lasting pieces rather than cheaper or overpriced tourist items.

Family Wood Tour - My husband does woodworking as a hobby, so this was his pick. The tour was informative. Our adult daughters enjoyed piecing the wood cut outs together to make their own inlay. Our taxi did have to call to see where to drop us off. And I would have liked to purchase their finished products at the factory. Otherwise, this was a very enjoyable morning. This is not to be missed for people who enjoy crafts or woodworking!

Incredible Craftmanship!! - First, let me say that we did not know that a tour of the facility was even possible or without question we would have tried to fit it in during my daughter and my 3 night's stay in Sorrento. Nonetheless, we visited his showroom and gift shop in Sorrento on several different occasions and met one of his sons and Master Mastellone himself there. We had visited a number of shops in Sorrento looking for unique gifts and while there were several shops that were selling very nice inlaid wood art, they did not measure up to the wonderfully vibrant colors, variety and designs created by Giuseppe and his two sons. Every item was absolutely amazing and so unique that nothing compared to anything we had seen at the other stores. We purchased a number of items including coasters, a jewelry box and a catchall. Several of the items will be given as gifts so I am quite certain we will be looking to order more now that we have returned back to the U.S. If you are in the Sorrento area you owe it to yourself to stop in the store or better yet tour his facility to experience firsthand a truly wonderful family of incredible craftsmen!

A Wonderful Experience Watching Skilled Craftsmen at Work - This tour/experience/tutorial provided an extraordinary insight into how three Old World craftsmen — Giuseppe Mastellone and his two sons — continue to keep a longstanding artistic tradition alive. We had previously seen and had been very impressed by their shop in Sorrento, featuring brightly colored boxes with geometric designs, classic intarsia tables, chessboards, and other objects. Next, we scheduled a visit to their workshop in the suburb of Sant’Agnello, just a 12-minute drive from Sorrento’s Piazza Tasso. It was amazing to witness how layers of almost wafer-thin exotic woods are cut and then fit into precisely shaped patterns. Master Giuseppe and his two sons were very warm and welcoming, and helped us make some small inlaid pieces ourselves! This was a memorable experience to have on our 30th wedding anniversary, and we have ordered some additional pieces for gifts from our new friends since returning to the United States.

Worthwhile experience - Very interesting factory tour, encouraging visitor experience. Delicate work producing stunning inlays. Well worth the visit, although very difficult to find. However the price of some items sold in the town shop was up to twice that of competitors seen later.
