Tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum - We had a fabulous tour. Our tour guide was sensational. Friendly, knowledgeable and accessible. Our only concern was that, as an older couple, it was physically challenging and we could have used a handful of short breaks to sit and recoup.

Brilliant Pompeii - We loved our family tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was well organised, informative, and easy for the kids to follow. The guide brought the history to life, and seeing both sites was fascinating, especially the well-preserved Herculaneum. A great, educational experience for the whole family

Must see in person - Much easier to navigate the streets with a guide that knows all the hidden facts. Shows the best frescos and mosaics that you can't find on your own or with the app.

A long-term ambition achieved! - A really great experience. Pompeii and Herculaneum had been on my list for decades and they more than lived up to expectations. Our guide Sergio was brilliant and packed an impressive amount of information into a short time.

Fantastic tour and highly recommend. Sergio was fantastic. - Fantastic tour and highly recommend. We had Giuseppe driving our minibus and Rosella looking after us for the journeys. Two great people who made us feel welcome. For the tour we had Sergio, what an utterly fantastic tour guide. There was a lot to do and see in each place and Sergio was great at showing us as much as possible with knowledge and charm. Any questions the group had he was able to answer and seemed pleased we were taking such an interest. There is a lot of walking, be prepared for that, but to be able to see so much it was more than worth it. Sergio didn't rush, we were able to see each thing we talked about more than long enough so it never felt like we were missing anything. Cannot thank you guys enough for giving us such a special experience in a very historic and cultural place.

Good value tour from sorrento - A great way to see both cities in one day. We booked the transfer from sorrento which made the journey much smoother but had to wait at Herculaneum for the train group. Not a huge issue but we didn’t get time to pick up lunch, just waiting with the tour guide at the site. The group was also slightly bigger than expected with around 20 ppl on our day (not quite the advertised number) and that meant we spent quite some time just taking turns to see things and wait for everyone to stick together. Carmina was an informative guide with interesting facts to share. I feel like I saw the key points of each city (with some interest in history but not a huge buff) and wasn’t left wishing I had more time at either city. We came in the low season and it was still busy, recommend it if you can or coming before it’s super crowded. Luca our driver was kind and safe, no notes for the transfer service.

Good, and not so good - I had specifically booked this tour with van transportation to/from Sorrento because I just wanted to take it easy that day. I was notified the day before ( while I was busy touring the Vatican and other places) that the van was "broken" and I'd need to get myself to the Pompei meeting point. I had not been to the area and had no idea what that would entail and couldn't really spend time on those logistics at that moment. They did offer to refund me some of the cost of the tour. If you have been to the area, you'll know there is a train that runs from from Naples to Sorrento and some other towns ( like Erculan where Herculean is ). So, I was able to get myself there...just had hoped to "pamper" myself a bit that day because I was traveling solo and been navigating walks, trains, and other transportation for awhile. The guide was a mixed bag- he had good info to share and was easy to understand. However, after a couple of hours at Pompei, he told us to get something to eat and meet up again in about 30 minutes. We then took the train together to tour Herculean. It was towards the end of the time there, that he basically just finished (while we were still in the ruins) and left the group. He left so quickly that we couldn't have followed him out even if we wanted. So, we were on our own to get back to the train station there, and then to our hotels. I was thankful to share the walk to the train station with some others in the group. However, I was the only one that was staying in Sorrento ( others heading to Naples), so I was alone again getting back. The train in that area is a little confusing- for example I had to get off at one stop, and then transfer to a different track to continue going the same direction. Thankfully, the guide did share this info with me earlier on the train ride to Erculan)... and before he abruptly left the group. Anyway, the ruins are amazing and the day was totally worth it. The tour just ended on a little bit of a sour note. I do question now if there was no van service from Sorrento because I was the only one staying there... rather than a breakdown. The guide said he didn't know anything about that, nor did he "care" because he was just there to guide us around the ruins. Who knows... They did give me some credit back on the tour cost without the transportation.

Too rushed to get the... - Too rushed to get the full experience. The company hose to wait almost 30 minutes for latecomers, maybe that's why we had to rush around. The guide was knowledgeable. However with 16 people on the narrow streets and small rooms, we frequently couldn't see what he was talking about. He gave his talk and then rushed on before showing the people toward the end, who couldn't see, what he was talking about..

Disappointing company - Disappointing tour company. Planned and paid for pickup in Sorrento but was called the afternoon before and told I’d have to find my own way to Pompeii if I wanted to join the tour, and then find a way back after Herculaneum. They did provide a train schedule. I agreed because I assumed once I arrived in Pompeii, I’d join the van / mini-bus tour. After we met our guide and had the Pompeii tickets, meaning it was very unlikely we could back out and expect any kind of refund, we were informed that only three would go by van and the others would have to take the train. There is an extreme difference in comfort of a van or mini-bus than of the Circumvesuvias trains. Instead of a 30 minute drive in a comfortable vehicle, we had an hour train ride where some of us didn’t even have a seat. That also meant that we had 20 minutes in which we were all (along with dozens of others) supposed to get our lunch from the one tiny food stand at the station. There was no other lunch time set aside, so many of us couldn’t get anything to eat. Had I known before I left Sorrento that I was going to be riding the train, I would have cancelled ASKOS tour and saved myself over $100 by buying my own tickets and engaging a guide at the site. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. She had to really race us through both sites to get everything in. When I mentioned needing to find my way back to Sorrento, she offered to have me join her, as she was going in that direction. I gave two stars instead of the one the company deserved because we had a good guide. No complaints about the guide or the sites. Both were great. It’s the company needs to clean up its act. Oh, there was a promised ‘welcome kit’ which was just like my ride from Sorrento- a no show. Separate from the company, I’d recommend splitting the two sites to two days. There is so much to absorb and a lot of hard walking.
