Moon Valley Tour and Astronomical Tour
Valle De La Luna - The tour begins with a departure from the center of San Pedro de Atacama, heading towards the Cordillera de la Sal in the Atacama Desert, known as the driest place on Earth. The destination is one of its most scenic spots: the Valley of the Moon. The name itself hints at the landscape, where erosion-sculpted rock formations, salt crusts, the Duna Mayor, and views that evoke an otherworldly feel dominate. The tour traverses the valley, visiting its renowned rock formations: the Tres Marías, the Canyon, and the Amphitheater. The tour concludes with a sunset view from the Lickanantay viewpoint, where the desert’s colors shift, framed by large volcanoes on the horizon, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
Solor - Astronomical Tour in Ayllu de Solor, under the stars.
San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile offers some of the world’s best skies for astronomical observation. Experience this incredible nighttime spectacle.
What does this experience include?
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by guides and embark on a captivating initial session of sky observation with the naked eye, accompanied by Rodrigo Zúñiga, the renowned author of the book series “Under the Night of Atacama” and “Nueve notes to recover the sky.” During this first part, participants become familiar with the season’s most prominent constellations and celestial elements, fostering an intimate connection with the surrounding natural splendor. Later, the experience is enhanced with electronic telescopes, allowing for the observation of planets, star clusters, nebulae, and other cosmic wonders, depending on the time of year.
Includes personal/group photography.
Rainbow Valley Tour, Cejar Lagoon, Ojos del Salar and Tebenquinche Lagoon, Atacama Salt Flat
Valle Arcoiris - The tour begins early, heading 90 km from San Pedro towards the Rio Grande basin, arriving at the Rainbow Valley. The valley is named for the variety of colors visible in its hills; earth tones, red, beige, green, white, and yellow, all combined with white salt traces and a blue sky. The colors reflect the ecological richness of the clay, minerals, and salts. The visit includes a 1-hour walk there and back.
The tour then moves to the Salado river area, where a small valley offers a walking opportunity to appreciate the landscape. The activity concludes with a return to San Pedro de Atacama.
Laguna Cejar - The tour begins with a visit to Laguna Cejar, known for its high salt concentration, allowing visitors to float as if in the Dead Sea. Surrounded by uniquely shaped salts, the tour includes walking along beautiful trails to observe the area’s biodiversity, emphasizing the importance of fauna conservation, home to foxes, flamingos, and microorganisms that thrive in extreme conditions, with only three such places in the world, Chile being one of them. The tour ends with a stunning desert sunset.
Piedras Rojas and Altiplanic Lagoons
Lagunas Altiplanicas - The journey starts towards the Piedras Rojas and Altiplanic Lagoons viewpoint, with hotel pick-up. The tour passes through notable tourist spots in the Atacama desert, including the charming towns of Toconao and Socaire. The guide provides detailed explanations of the area’s geology and fauna, along with its history. The tour crosses the Tropic of Capricorn, stopping at the Altiplanic Lagoon for a delightful buffet breakfast, before continuing to the Piedras Rojas Viewpoint at 4,200 meters altitude, where the striking color of the stones and the remarkable formations can be admired. An incredible lunch is provided, followed by a visit to the altiplano, one of the world’s most beautiful salt flats, the Salar de Talar, known as a sea of colors.
Tatio Geyser
Geyser del Tatio - At dawn, the tour heads to one of the Andean plateau’s entrances, directly to the “Geyser del Tatio,” one of the world’s most significant geothermal fields, featuring 80 geysers with steaming fumaroles, offering a unique spectacle. The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, followed by a delicious buffet breakfast.
