Best guide in Sao Tome - Luis is THE guide to go with for Sao Tome. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and very good at what he does! Luis was 10/10 he came to pick me up from the airport when I arrived and then a couple days later we did the east/south coast island tour in which pick up was arranged and drop off at the next hotel. Luis knew all the best sites and ensured the tour had a wide range of different locations with enough time at each. It was great to see a mixture of the local sites and the beautiful natural sites of Sao Tome. During my stay in Sao Tome I did a range of tours/activities with out guides/companies, for my next visit I will book everything with Luis. His professionalism and organisation far exceeded expectations and was the best out of all other companies, his level of english is perfect and a extremely friendly person! If you are visiting Sao Tome I highly recommend getting in touch with Luis he will help you organise your time there and ensure you see everything worth seeing tailoring this to your travel style!

Guided trip to Ilhéu das Rolas with lunch - Our group of 5 adults booked Luis Miguel for a guided trip to Ilhéu das Rolas, the tiny island off the southern tip of Sao Tome where you can straddle the equator. Miguel collected us from our accommodation in Santana in his 4x4, which has plenty of room, and we set off south. Miguel gave us a history of Sao Tome and a running commentary covering the areas we were passing through. Miguel is friendly, always smiling, knowledgeable and very passionate about his homeland. And he speaks very good English. The tour included the boat trip to Ilhéu das Rolas, a lovely lunch on the island and the return transport to our accommodation. I'd thoroughly recommend Miguel as a guide.

Great way to see this... - Great way to see this GORGEOUS island. Prettiest tropical vegetation I have seen. Wear water shoes with good grip to explore the rocks and beaches.

Best São Tomé Tour Guide! - Luis was an excellent tour guide! His professionalism and speedy responses to my inquires made me feel at ease. His teammate Ayres was superb and safely drove me to various tourist points across the island, while also giving me a history lesson via his knowledgeable answers to my various questions. LGBTQ Tour to South Africa - I can't recommend Detours based in Vancouver and Out Of Office in London for arranging a most exciting two weeks in South Africa covering Cape Town, The Wineries, Kruger Park Safari and then Jo'berg. This was my first group travel and the leader - Darren Frances - was brilliant. The hotels and restaurants were excellent and all the trips were smooth running and seemed faultless due to Darren's professionalism. These companies arrange tours throughout the year and I look forward to using their services again

Super day very impressive - A perfect day with a great driver. A delicious beer on the beach. You must have seen the Pico. In addition, the work on palm oil extraction. Several beaches, the market and the city visited. A great impression of the island.

Genuine contact with Sao Tomé south coast - Luis Miguel picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the various villages of the South Coast until we arrived in sight of the Cao Grande. Competent, kind, multilingual and helpful. You feel that he knows and loves his country.

Beware the “Bait and Switch” - Luis Miguel called me the night before the tour to tell me he was not available for what I booked (Ilheu das Rolas). But he said he had a colleague who could do the tour. However, this “friend” did not seem like a qualified or experienced tour guide. He gave almost no information the whole day. At the first stop, he got out of the car and disappeared without saying anything. He seemed rushed and distracted the entire time. We did not go to Porto Alegre or Praia Yam as promised in this tour. I had to pay 40 EUR to a rather unfriendly boat driver. The guide (Jailson) asked me to take pictures of him as if he had never been to these places before. $120 is more than most Sao Tomeans make in a month so Luis Miguel must be doing quite well for himself. Unfortunately, I cannot rate him as a tour guide because he was not there. I do not suggest you accept one of his “friends” as a substitute.

Do not book on a day trip - Miguel was a nice and patient person but very unreasonable to ask me to wait after standing there for 1.5 hours for all passengers to get off ship which was 2.5 hours at least. He wanted to cut down the tour for same price. I ended up getting my own transport. I was livid. I'm on a private tour why should I wait? He said as the owner he has to make sure all of the tours go smoothly but that's not fair for a private tour to not start until well after 2 hours of meeting time. Never again!!!! Further he says this tour is only available for 4 days. So why say full day tour after I arrive it changed

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND DANGEROUS DRIVER. TOUR BASIC - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS MAN. To book his tours you pay a very small deposit and the rest in cash on the day - DON'T GO THERE. The tour is NOT worth it, which ever tour it might be with him. In over twenty five years of travelling the world this is the WORST tour we have ever done. I emailed Luis, but after he had taken the money for the tour, which he does up front before you leave the port, he doesn't want to know. And needless to say he has not bothered to reply to my email. The tour guide / driver (same man) we had understood more English than he spoke. The van we had, which is described as an air conditioned vehicle, is not, the A/C didn't work, so we had to have the windows open. The van kept breaking down, it was old and really not fit for purpose and we did doubt we would even get back to the ship. The driver / guide phoned Luis a number of times, but he wasn't helpful and left the driver / guide to get on with it. The driver / guide himself kept loosing concentration / falling asleep and veering off the road, or into massive pot holes. Each time he did that the van stopped working. Not safe. Fortunately there is very few vehicles on the roads outside of the city. All six of us on this tour were disgusted. If you stop at this port you will be better off, when you finally make it off the ship, in booking a tour with one of the people standing there trying to get your attention, in a vehicle you can see and a person you can speak with and negotiate the price. Other people we know did this and paid less for much better than we did by booking in advance. I hope this review will help other not waste their money with this time waster.
