Brenda knows her cranberries! She is an extraordinary women who knows history, chemistry, farming and we loved her desserts.
Can't wait to go back for blueberries.
Excellent tour. Learned so much re the history, growing and harvest of cranberries. So informative, both the presentation and the tour, and entertaining too!
I learned so many fascinating things about cranberries and New Jersey! I had not idea. And seeing the actual harvest with the specialized machines invented at the farm was so cool. And the tasting and recipes were frosting on the cake. I highly recommend the tour and look forward to buying Pine Barrens Native Fruits products in the future.
everyone gave excellent information, and very friendly, even though they must be very tired doing this every day, school trips included.
It was perfect! So much information. Truly fascinating. Fun to see the bogs and the harvesting in action. And the cranberry recipes we got to taste were fantastic. Couldn't think of a better way to spend my day.
We had such a great time. The history of the area was amazing, I enjoyed hearing all the stories. The recipe book and all the tasty treats were icing on the cake for us. We will be back .
We found it very informative and everyone was very nice. It would be great to have more time in the "bogs" and a regular bathroom.
Our entire time with PBNF was wonderful, entertaining, informative and finally delicious!!! We are so glad we found out about the tour.
Warning - We will be back!!!
fun day.... i know more about cranberries then i ever wanted to know LOL Fun day ... loved it and would recommend it to anyone that never knew how cranberries were harvested...
Brenda does a great job of teaching her audience about cranberries from planting to harvesting. Obviously she is so passionate and knowledgeable about her subject that the presentation just gets better and better. Loved everything about the tour and enjoyed the tasting of various cranberry products at the end. The only place that I, feel could be improved, is the web site. It is so hard to use the calendar when looking for a date to purchase a tour. Thanks again for a wonderful day. Posted pictures on my Facebook page.
We loved the tour and learned so much. It was something I wanted to do for a long time and it did meet up to my expectations. My only suggestion would be to have some kind of an open air bus with a cover which would give better visibility for everyone. The tasting was amazing. I didn’t realize that you could do so much with cranberries. Everyone was very nice. Thank you.
Had an amazing time visiting with my 10 year old son. Very informative and interesting. Entire staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed all the delicious samples. Highly recommend as a great way to spend the day!
Brenda was phenomenal. Wish there was an opportunity to get in the bog (you could charge a bunch more for that) or at least step out of the bus to walk around and take closer pics.
Didn't get too close to harvesting
The information presented was fascinating, particularly the way the agriculture involved in cranberry growing was explained in context with the history of NJ. Allowing us a taste of the fresh fruit and related products was enjoyable, and didn't feel like a hard sell, which was nice.
My only suggestions would be: figure out a way to allow some kind of walking near a growing area, allowing us to step off the bus; have better toilet facilities, since most visitors travel quite a distance and need them by the time they get there; lower the prices to make it less costly for families to bring their children; switch the order of the items that are tasted so that the sweets prepared with the cranberries (like cranberries in snow) are last to be tasted, after the more savory preparations (you can leave the fresh cranberries in caramel first, since the focus of that is on the fresh fruit).
Very interesting tour, both the history and the science of Cranberry farming. The tasting section was also very informative as I wouldn't have ever bought or tried most of hat they were handing out. Almost everything they passed out we will be trying again at home through the holidays.
You have to go.
Very personalized and informative tour about the history and lives of the local cranberry farmers. The woman who gave the tour, I think Connie, was very open and had tremendous expertise as well as humor and also they treated the youngsters very nicely. The tour was well organized to handle the group and also they ordered beautiful weather for us! The provided cranberry snacks were generous and hit the spot! Overall it was very unusual to see the whole harvest process as well and well worth the time and effort to see it, as we drove from Long Island for the morning tour on oct 21 and driving at 6 am we hit zero traffic! Thank you again for an enjoyable tour!
There is nothing you could do better. Perfect the way it is.
We learned so much of the history of cranberries!
The bus trip was fun!
We loved sampling the recipes.
The cookbook is amazing!
A very informative and fun visit. Yummy tastings also.
Your talk was extremely interesting. Tha hour flew by! There was so much information given and my only suggestion would be to have some of that info. available on a fact sheet that we could have to take home. This way we could share it with others and maybe they would like to take the tour. The bus portion was amazing. I had no idea what the bogs would really be like. Of course, the tasting section was also a big hit. The cookbook will be put to good use. All in all, it was a wonderful and enjoyable day. I certainly appreciate all the work behind the scenes to produce your crops. All of you are very personable and made us feel quite welcome. Thank you again.a
Informative and entertaining guides
Wished I had opportunity to get off bus for photos. Perhaps some kind of platform overlooking bog would be helpful.
We loved our visit. It was interesting and very informative!!
Very informative and interesting. The recipe book and tasting was a nice touch!
It was informative and interesting, allowed us to see a production operation at its early stages. I would not do it again, but it was worth doing once. Thanks.
I put together a nice review on facebook, to help spread the word about this local cranberry treasure! The tour far exceeded any expectations...it was a wonderful experience and I am highly recommending it to everyone I know!
We enjoyed Brenda's down to earth presentation style, and we will have great memories and great appreciation of the skill and perseverance it takes to raise and deliver cranberries to our Thanksgiving table...Let us know when you folks ever develop an informative DVD. FACTOID: on page 18 of the OCT/NOV issue of COUNTRY-MAGAZINE.COM "Americans ate 400 million pounds of cranberries last year".
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOUR ENTIRE CREW
Brenda was excellent in explaining the history and current workings of the cranberry bogs. It was both very enjoyable and educational. The tastings were also fun. Looking forward to the Blueberry tour!!!
Enjoyed the lecture/ history/backround before the tour. Loved the field experience on the bus. Thoroughly enjoyed the cranberry tasting. We certainly will try the recipes from the cookbook. We have a new appreciation for the cranberry and blueberry and the farmers who provide these crops for us. We bought and tried the honey, salsa, jam, cranberries and now proudly wear the "Go Native" hat. Thanks for a most enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back and bring our friends and family. This experience will now start a new tradition for us! Now the fall season will not be complete unless we see a cranberry harvest!
The staff is friendly and full of fun and historical facts. The samples of cranberry recipes was wonderful, especially the cranberry salsa which is great. This is a working farm, and you get to see the process from vines to transport trucks. We loved it!
I was very satisfied because everyone is so friendly and willing to answer questions. The tour is very informative about the history of cranberry harvesting. I also like the fact that you can buy cranberries and taste cranberry recipes. I look forward to next year which will be my fifth time.
Educational and very interesting. Never realized how difficult it is to grow this little berry.the toilet facilities could be improved.Brenda really made the tour with her energy.
The entire Cranberry Harvest Tour presentation was wonderful. I do have a suggestion; Children under the age of 7 should not be permitted. We had two families with children and it spoiled the tour for us, it was very difficult at times to hear and very distracting. Thanks again for an almost perfect day. Pat Borruso
We found the tour very informative. Brenda really knows her farm and her cranberries. We learned a lot about our southern N.J. history and how much work is involved in growing and harvesting a cranberry crop. The entire tour ran very smoothly from Brenda, the bus operator and to the women that let us try different recipes made from cranberries. We have already told our neighbors and family about the tour. Brenda, you should really get the word out about the tour. We happened to hear about it on a visit to Whitesbog Village. Good Luck on your harvest and future tours!
