Private Car Transfer from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap with Sightseeing Tour
Skun Spider Sanctuary - Take a break in Skun, affectionately known as Spiderville Cambodia, a popular spot for both Cambodian and international travelers. Here, you can try the local delicacy of fried tarantula and other fried insects. We make a brief stop to explore this market in Spider Town, where you can also sample various seasonal local fruits from the region and islands in the Mekong River. If tasting spiders, crickets, scorpions, grasshoppers, or other insects isn’t appealing, this is still a great place for photography.
Kampong Kdei - This stop is along an ancient Angkor route, where we visit Kampong Kdei to see one of the ancient Angkor bridges built in the 12th century. Known as Spean Praptos or locally as Dragon Bridge, it features over 20 arches and is a breathtaking sight, highlighting the Khmer’s engineering prowess akin to the Romans of Southeast Asia. The bridge is well-preserved and impressive.
Tonle Sap Lake - Next, we journey to the typical Khmer village of Kompong Khleang, one of the largest and least visited villages on the Great Tonle Sap Lake. You’ll take a wooden boat to the village, offering a glimpse into daily life in Cambodia and discovering a unique lifestyle in the largest freshwater lake. Gain fascinating insights into local life by exploring the stilt houses, which stand 8m high during the dry season but only 1 or 2 meters above water during the rainy season. Explore the stunning landscape of the flooded mangrove forest and learn about this remarkable natural flood barrier. In the village, animals like pigs, dogs, chickens, ducks, and humans all coexist, competing for space in these incredible floating villages. This unique experience offers a fantastic outdoor adventure in the Siem Reap countryside and is undoubtedly a highlight of a Cambodia holiday.
Sunrise Angkor Wat - Best One Day Temple Selection by Car or Tuk Tuk
Angkor Wat - Meet in the hotel lobby at 4:45 am to travel to Angkor Wat for sunrise. The temple is considered the largest religious building in the world and is truly one of the wonders of the world. Believed to have been constructed as a temple and mausoleum for King Suryavarman II during the peak of the Khmer Empire in the first half of the 12th century, Angkor Wat is the best-preserved of the Angkorian temples. The central monument symbolizes the mythical Mount Meru, the sacred mountain at the universe’s center, home to the Hindu god Vishnu.
Ta Prohm Temple - After returning to the hotel for breakfast and some rest, we visit the jungle temple of Ta Prohm. This temple is unique as it is overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts crumbling to the ground. This makes the ‘Tomb Raider Temple’ one of the most picturesque and memorable of the Angkor temples. Then, we visit the Giant Pyramid of Takeo, one of the tallest temples in the Angkor area.
Angkor Thom Temple - We proceed to Angkor Thom, the ancient city and last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under Jayavarman VII’s reign. This city is encircled by an 8 m high wall forming a perfect square. Enter the city through the ancient South Gate, an impressive stone gate adorned with Elephants and four giant faces.
Bayon Temple - The highlight is the enigmatic and captivating Temple of Bayon. The 54 towers are each topped with the four faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion), resembling the king himself. Visit Baphuon, one of Angkor’s most beautiful temples from the 11th century, extensively renovated by the French and now open to the public. Continue along the Terrace of Elephants and visit the Terrace of the Leper King.
